Jerusalem

This is the group of us who went to Jerusalem end of January, 1995. This was a group related in one way or another with Hospice of Central Florida. This was taken on a ledge/driveway in front of our hotel, The Hotel of Seven Arches, and overlooks the holiest city in the world. Note that all the buildings can only be painted white and that makes the city seem to "shimmer" like a jewel in the sunlight. The golden dome can be seen in the background.

Here I am sitting atop Masada in Israel. Those of you who remember
their history will recall that this is where several hundred Jews held out
against thousands of Romans for over ten years.

This is the Western Wall or the Wailing Wall of the ancient temple. As you all know,
here is where everyone comes to pray and leave their petitions of a small piece of paper which
is crammed into the crevices of the wall. (Yes, I did it, too!)

Here we are in the Room of the Last Supper.
Nothing like you'd imagined, is it?

In the first photo, I am standing before the entrance to Capernaum, the city where Jesus grew up. Here we saw St. Peter's house (or what's left of it) and the ruins of the temple where Jesus taught the Elders. In the second photo, I am basking in the "gunk" that is the Dead Sea; nothing lives in it. Next, we are boarding a small ship that will cruise up the Sea of Galilee. It was very peaceful and the sun setting was magnificent.
