AFJROTC Background Information
The Air Force Junior ROTC at Lake Worth High School (or anywhere) was not established to build up fighters for our nations military procedures; it was established to build better citizens for the future of our nations history. Not only does this program build better citizens, but it strengthens character, teaches responsibility and acquaints cadets with the aerospace age and careers in the Air Force. AFJROTC will help students become a leader, and if some are already a leader (in their eyes, or others) then this program can help them better their weak points, and perfect their strong points. This program will help students become confident, self-reliant, and self-disciplined.

If some students wish to get a good education than, consider the following (oops, sorry, I didn't mean to sound like Bill Nye). High school students who complete three years of the AFJROTC will be eligible to enter the Air Force with a pay grade twice as high then other enlistees. Also, they will be prepared to to work in an expanding technological world; in the Air Force or as a civilian.

If others wish to explore education beyond high school (college) they can receive an Academy nomination from any of the military academies or an AFJROTC scholarship through their unit. Also, for an Air Force ROTC four-year college program, a cadet can recieve credit for the first year of their college life just for completing the three years at Air Force Juinor ROTC. Plus, they can get uniforms, insignia, and ROTC textbooks free.

Within the first year, students in the AFJROTC curriculum will be introduced into the heritage of flight, explore the development of air power and learn about military aerospace policies. In the second year, students will examine the environment in which aircraft and spacecraft operate, the principles of flight, navagaion, as well as requirements for human flight. Continuing into the third year, students will study rocketry, propulsion systems and space vehicles; closing the year will consist of a review of civil aviation and aerospace careers. Each year there is a level of leadership learned and students are helped to prepare for positions in the real world (as a military officer or a civilian). To add in, students are introduced to marching, movements, commands, customs and courtesies, and flag etiquette.
