Really want to get in alot of hits? Get about 8 mastered Counter Attack Materia and a mastered Double Cut Materia. If you equip them all, you will counter attack 8 times after taking damage, as well as hit four times in a row.
Morphing Enemies:
Morphing enemies is easy if you have Yuffie's Conformer. (to get the Conformer, click here) Since the Conformer is powered up according to the level of your foe, it will inflict a large amount of damage. If you equip Yuffie with the Mega All materia as well, she will hit all the enemies just as hard. Note: If you get into disc 3, go to the Northern Crater and morph a little mole guy with a giant star above his head... you'll get something handy!
URA Tournament in Battle Square:
Everyone keeps asking how to get into the special battle at the Gold Saucer. Here's how... first, you need to battle enough to purchase both Cloud's Omnislash and the Double Summon materia. Once you've purchased those, talk to the lady at the registration desk (didn't she die from a gunshot wound earlier in the game?) and she'll tell you about a special battle Dio is holding. Enter the match, and if you win, you'll get the Final Attack materia.
Tips for Battle Points: when fighting in the arena, you will score BP's according to your handicaps. The larger the handicap, the larger the sum of your BP will be. The highest I ever got in one round was over 11,000. You can get 11,000 points by hitting the "all materia broken" slot on the slot machine. The the one with five colored balls on it. Good luck...
Recruit Yuffie:
After exiting the Mythril Cave, go past the Condor Reactor and find a patch of forest. Keep fighting in the forest until you meet up with a weird looking person. Fight and defeat her. Once the screen comes up, you'll be in a small open field. What ever you do, do not bring up any menu screen or Yuffie will run away (probably with some of your money). You need to answer her questions in this order: 2, 1, 2, 1, 2
Recruit Vincent:
In the Shinra Mansion, open the safe. (36R, 10L, 59R, 97R <-- select the black space there for those of you who are too sissy-mary to figure out the passcode on your own) You'll get the Key to the Basement after you defeat the monster inside. Open the basement door and talk with Vincent. After he shuts the coffin, talk with him one more time for his name. Once you begin to leave Shinra Mansion, he'll join your group.
Space Shuttle Passcode:
To get the Huge Blue Materia, enter O, , X, X.
Alexander Materia:
First, you need to go to the steaming lakes which is south and east of the checkmark, after you get done snowboarding down the hill. Touch the water and move on. Either pass out or reach the old man's shack (one takes just as long as the other), and then head on up to the point where you must lay down markers to keep track of where you are.
Once there, you'll want to head in a straight line east. You should see a cave once you're half way there, you'll find some materia inside of it. Keep going east of the cave entrance, and eventually you'll be out of that nasty place. Just follow the path. Keep going along the path and eventually, you'll come across a cave. Go in and talk to the man dressed in purple. Well... actually, it's not a man... at least I hope not...
The Added Effect Advantage:
Fighting some dreaded ice demon on the icy cliffs? Seem nearly impossible? Not hardly. Try linking Add Effect + Fire materias together. This adds a fire damage to your weapon, which allows you to do massive amounts of damage... and we're not just talkin' fire.
If you put the Break materia with Added Effect, you will randomly cast stone, stop, or death on the enemy that you attack. Once again, I'll tell you that age old saying I have... experiment. Don't E-mail me up whining, "What are good materia combos?"... try doing it yourself! I believe you'll find it much more interesting and rewarding.
Tips to Defeat Ruby/Emerald Weapon, or any other boss:
If you think this is hard... wait 'til you fight the other one. I, unlike other people it seems, didn't have any trouble knockin' this thing to kingdom come. When I played this game, I didn't go and look for things on the internet to help me. I didn't have Knights of the Round, or any master materias because I didn't know about them. I never used any miming materia combo or a phoenix and final attack combo because I never had those materias.
I beat the Emerald Weapon using Haste + All, Barrier + All, Cure + All, and the characters that have the hardest hitting limit breaks (Tifa, Cid, and Cloud). Now, if you have other rare materia, and you can make those combos (like Phoenix and Final Attack)... go for it.
When the battle starts, make sure to use barrier and haste on all 3 people. Make sure every character has a mastered HP Plus materia on so your points will be at 9,999. The reason you don't wanna' use wall is because it will block your magic to... things like Cure. Using my way of building up AP and EXP (seen below), I was able to put a mastered 4x Cut on every character so that they hit 4 times in a row, and some mastered Counter Attack materias on them as well.
The main thing you want to remember, is that when you put hypers on all of your characters before battle, your Limit Breaks will go up... real fast. I know that everyone says it takes down your attack damage... well, I'm gonna' tell you straight now that I never even noticed it for a long time because I never saw any dramatic difference between normal and fury. And besides, if you have Cloud's Ultima Sword, he's gonna' hit by 9,999 anyway. Limit Breaks are the big key for those who don't have super materia to help them out. So this is Kaine's guide to Weapons (for the rest of us!)... because I know some of you have a hard time breeding chocobos. Check out my Chocobo Breeding Guide if you need some help.
Keep in mind... you probably won't beat this thing on the first try ok? So don't get discouraged if you don't win every time. Experiment... try new things... if one thing doesn't work against it, try something else. You'll beat it eventually.
FOR CHEATERS: Unlimited Items:
With the W-Item materia equipped, (to find it, Click here) get into a fight. Use W-Item and select to use any item on anyone (it doesn't matter). What matters is what you do with the second item you use. After you select who to use the first item on, it goes back to the item screen for you to select another item. Select the item you want to duplicate, but don't use it. Just select the item and deselect it repeatedly. Watch the number go up!
Tons of AP, EXP, and Gil (for disc 3):
I discovered this one day when I was messin' around in the Northern Crater. This is the most efficent way to build your characters, and materia up. First of all, you'll need to go down into the Northern Crater. Keep going until you get to the part where there's a fork in the road and the party splits up. Take the left path. In the next room, you'll be able to take two paths. Go right. You'll be in a place with water and, what looks like, dead plants. You'll want to make sure you have Cloud with the Apocalypse Sword (found in the Ancient Forest/Frog Forest) and Cid with the Scimitar. (they have triple AP build up) Set your materia up the way you want it (according to what materia you want mastered) and fight some enemies.
You'll have to make sure that you have a Steal Materia equipped on someone. You'll meet up with a Mole with a star over his head. Steal from him and you'll recieve an Elixer. Elixers are very important, you'll need many of them. You'll also meet up with a Christopher paired up with a donkey looking monster. I forget which one, but one of them has an elixer to steal.
Now here's the cool part. You'll meet up with some mysterious looking Magic Pots. If you attack them right off, they'll steal from you (this is a very bad thing, they took my Cosmo Memory once and got away with it!). I remembered that on Final Fantasy 3, there were magic pots that you had to "feed" before you could kill them. Here's what I found... first, use an elixer on it or both of them, which ever the case may be. Then attack them. Once you kill them, they will give you 8,000 EXP and 1,000 AP! Two of them will give you 16,000 EXP and 2,000 AP! All materia on Cloud's Apocalypse will get triple and recieve 6,000 AP! All those with the (level 2) EXP Plus materia on will get 32,000 EXP! As much as some of the Weapons give you when you defeat them!
Another enemy you'll meet up with are 3 orange balls that bounce up and down. Simply defeat them. They won't give you any EXP, but they will give you 2,400 AP! On Cloud's Apocalypse, the materia will recieve 7,200 AP a piece!
If you're looking for a lot of money, the enemies alone give you alot. But if you stick All materia on your characters, and build them up... a mastered All materia will sell for 1.4 million gil! That's alot of zeros!
Gil to GP:
If you go to the Gold Saucer, you'll be able to convert your Gil into GP.  First, ride the tram and you'll exit the tram at the tram station on the Gold Saucer. In that same area, there should be a very tiny man right next to a building that sets next to the tram (he's towards the left of the screen). If you don't see him there, that's because he only appears randomly. Keep going in and out of the entrance (of the Gold Saucer, not the tram) until you see him. He'll give you 100 GP for 10,000 Gil. This process can be repeated until you think you have enough GP for whatever you're going to buy.
