We met almost six years ago at an ECHL
hockey game in Wheeling, WVA. Joe was there with some friends to see the Dayton Bombers
and I was there to see the Thunderbirds, which are now called the Nailers. We kept passing
each other and Joe wouldn't approach me because he thought I was with my parents. I
finally went up to him and asked him me he was ever going to talk to me? It was then he
found out that the people I was with were only friends, who just happened to be older.
At the beginning of 1995 Joe moved to Florida and I stayed in
Ohio, to finish college at Tiffin University. Joe began working for Tampa Bay Engineering
(http://www.tbegroup.com) as a CADD Technician and
went back to school for Commercial Art. We spent a lot of time (and money) on the phone
and flying back and forth to see each other. On Saturday May 3, 1996 I graduated from
Tiffin with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management with a
minor in Travel & Tourism. Which I finally got to put to use, I got the job of my
dreams in January 1999 as a Travel Planner for AAA. But,
the night before graduation Joe had other plans... On Friday night, May 2nd, he proposed
to me (I obviously accepted ) and gave me a 3/4 carat marquee diamond
ring.
We got married on September 5, 1998 in Wolfhurst, OH and had the
reception in Bridgeport at the Bridgeport Eagles. Luckily the hall is big because we had
about 450 people there. Yes that is correct 450! Joe had never seen a wedding so big
before meeting me, but ours was small, my brothers beat ours by about 200+ people!
For our Honeymoon we took our time driving back to Florida. We
stopped in Kentucky for a night, then we went to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge for a couple
of days. The mountains are very beautiful in September. Especially after living in Florida
and not getting to see the change of the seasons like we used to get to see up
north.
In October we moved into our brand new house. We had put the
deposit down in June and was just waiting for it to get done so we could move in after our
Wedding. It is the Elan model, built by Bay Hill Homes based in Tampa, FL. It is the
smallest style house in the neighborhood but we wouldn't give it back, it is a lot more
than we expected us to have for our first house.
