William Gannon (Dec 22,1833- Sep 9,1913) married Mary Ann Levy Carroll ( Dec 21,1841- Feb 20,1837) on Aug 19,1875

William was born in Dublin,Ireland. He was the son of Michael Gannon & Catherine McMinnes. He came to the United States in 1861 according to the 1900 census. He met Mary Ann while working on the railroad. He was staying at a boarding house run by Mary Ann's sister Elizabeth Lowers. Mary Ann was the daughter of Christian Levy & Esther Harriet Hoover. She was born in Rockland Twp,Venango County,PA.

Christian Levy ( b. about 1815) was the son of Christian Levy Sr. & Elizabeth. Christian Sr. was born about 1789 in Philadelphia. His parents were Jewish merchants. He left Philadelphia after marrying out of the Jewish Faith. He went to Lancaster County then Venango County. Christian & Hettie Levy had 13 children - Elizabeth, Mary Ann, John , Annie, Samuel, Andrew, Sarah, Nancy, Athia, Christian, Jeremiah, Amanda & John Fee Levy who was adopted.

According to my great aunt Dorothy Small ( Amanda Gannon Heasley's daughter) when William Gannon came to America he came to New York City with 2 brothers. They split up shortly after that. Gannon University in Erie was supposed to have been started by a cousin of the Gannon's - Bishop John Mark Gannon.

William & Mary Ann Gannon are buried in Lucinda,PA at St. Joseph's Church. Hettie Hoover Levy is also buried in Lucinda at the Walter's Cemetery. I don't know where Christian Levy is buried but they lived in Rockland Station,Venango County so he is probably buried near there.
