SUMMARY: A poem from Paige’s POV, later in her life.

As the sun sets
Silently in tribute of her life

‘Was it so long ago?’ she wonders.

So long ago when she was a young girl
Whose eyes were so big with her dreams
And her hopes could make worlds go ‘round

‘How much have I changed?’ she wonders.

From a naive, ambitious girl
To a strong, courageous leader
To a caring, gentle elder

‘How much has the world changed?’ she wonders.

From a rather unwelcome place for her kind
To a burning hell for them
To a place of tolerance for all

She’s seen more than any woman should.

As a young fighter along with her fellow mutants
As the leader of a valiant fighting force
As a stable pillar among unstable and deadly times

Only a small few have lived as she.

Her teammates ...
Her brother ...
Her daughter ...

Such a strange life Paige Guthrie has lived.

As the sun sets
An old woman smiles
Silently in tribute to her life

A beautiful sunset is a glorious way to end the day.
