Chapter 1

"Come on Nick! Please?" Kristy begged her 6-year-old best friend.

"No! I won't do it!" Nick pouted at his 5-year-old best friend.

"Please? You get cookies!" Kristy said as Nick's face lit up.

"Cookies?"

"UH HUH!" Kristy said as Nick followed her up the
stairs to play tea party. Nick sat down and looked at the Barbie
dolls around him.

"These better be yummy cookies Kwisty!" Nick slurred.

"Here, one for you," Kristy said scattering the cookies
amongst the dolls. "And one for my husband Nick,"
she said as he face crinkles.

"Husband? EW!" He said snatching the
cookie from her hand and chomping on it.

"We'll get married Nick, you know it will happen!"
Kristy said as Nick shook his head.

"Girl's are sick! Filled with cooties and stupid Barbies, EW!"
Nick said sticking his tongue out at the nasty thought.
He didn't realize Kristy coming as she kissing his cheek.

"AHH!" Nick screamed wiping his face as fast
as he could. "What are you doing?"

"Being a girl!" Kristy said as Nick tickled her to the ground.

"Nick hurry Kristy's outside waiting for you!"
Jane yelled to her 9-year-old son.

"Coming!" Nick yelled sliding down the
banister of his house and jumping over to Kristy.

"Aww, you're a bat!" Kristy laughed.

"I'm Batman! Who are you a rat?" Nick asked.

"I'm a cat!" Kristy pouted.

"You two have fun," Jane said as Kristy and
Nick ran out the door.

"Happy Halloween!" Kristy yelled to Jane.

As Kristy and Nick ran down the street to all the houses
they could find, Kristy got tired and sat down on
the sidewalk as Nick did the same.

"Trade you your Butterfinger for my Crunch bar!" Nick
said rummaging through his pillowcase full of candy.

"Nick I don't feel so good," Kristy said closing her eyes.
Nick felt her forehead.

"You're hotter than the sun! Do you want to go
home?" Nick asked as Kristy looked at him.

"You would go home for me?" Nick shrugged.

"You're my best friend…plus I don't want to see you barf,"
Nick said as she laughed. Nick took her
hand and walked her home.

~*~*~*~

"Are you sure about this?" Nick asked as Kristy shrugged.

"It's just a dance, come on!" Kristy said taking her
14-year-old best friend into the school gym.

"I'm hungry," Nick said walking nervously over to the food.

"Nick it's the song!" Kristy giggled as Nick smiled.

They got onto the floor and sang, it was
there song, their favorite song ever.

After Kristy got off the dance floor she met up
with her boyfriend James and went outside.

"It's getting late, I'll see you guys later," Nick said slapping his
friend's hands and walking out of the gym. He looked at saw
Kristy crying on the small bench by the parking lot.
"What's wrong Kris?" Nick asked sitting aside her.

"He broke up with me," she cried. Nick held her as she cried,
she felt so safe in his arms.

"It's okay Kris, he didn't deserve you anyways," Nick whispered.
Kristy looked up and him as their eyes met,
he kissed her lips softly as she kissed back.

"We should go, my mom's going to kill me," Nick said jumping
away. Kristy nodded and followed Nick to the parking
lot, waiting for Jane to come and pick them up.
