Chapter 4

"I want one!" Nick whined as Kristy shook her head. 20
minutes had passed and they were going nuts.
Kristy had tic tacs in hand.

"Nope, I only would give one to someone like…my best
friend?" Kristy said popping a peppermint tic tac in her mouth.

"I deserve that I know…please? I'm hungry!" He begged.

"Sorry, popular people can't talk to me or even have a tic tac from me."

"Hey it's not like I picked the title of being popular, I can't help it!"

"Like you can't help 5 years of silence?"

"Man forget it, I get bitched at for wanting a tic tac."

"So I'm a bitch now?"

"I never knew you were until now! I try to explain
myself to you but all you can do is bitch bitch bitch!"

"Then don't talk to me," she said with a shrug.
"I have no problem with that."

"FINE!"

"FINE!" They both stopped talking to each other.

Just giving each other evil looks was good enough for them.

"So when you decided to mutilate my locker did you
laugh your ass off over it or just laugh?" Kristy asked.

"I didn't do that to your locker, Mike did."

"How did he know my nickname was Krispy?" She asked as
Nick sighed.

"I watched them do it, I offered the name, that's all."

"Oh okay, that's fine to do Nick."

"Well I told you the truth didn't I? Give me credit for
that," Nick said as she rolled her eyes.

"I don't want to talk to a mutilator."

"Fine, DON'T!"

"FINE!"

"FINE!" There was a pause as Kristy started up again.

"How's Jane?" She asked curiously.

"She still talks about you, it's Kristy did this remember when
Kristy did that, she misses you too much…how's Bridget?"

"Since her and my dad got divorced not so good."

"They got divorced?"

"3 years ago. My mom works 2 jobs, she's trying to keep busy."

"I'm sorry," Nick said sadly.

"No you're not. You have the Leave It To Beaver
family," she shrugged.

"I know I do, but that doesn't mean I can't feel sorry for you."

"So now you're my friend?"

"I'm trying."

"Well don't, I don't want to deal with what I had to these
5 years again later," she said looking down at her shoes…

"Get those and let's go," Nick whined as Kristy shook her head.

"I have to get some pretty one's, someone's getting married
Nick we gotta be pretty!" Kristy said as they walked
through the shoe store.

"What about these?" Nick asked as Kristy smiled.

"They're perfect!" She said slipping them on and walking
around in them. "Thanks Nick!" She said hugging him
tight.

"Hey what are best friends for?"

"Earth to Kristy? HELLO?" Nick asked as she snapped into reality.

"Remember when I bought these?" She asked looking at him.

"Yeah! I do! You can still fit in them?"

"I make them fit."

"Oh."

"Why hasn't anyone found us yet?" Kristy asked looking at the elevator
numbers.

"You think they would by now." Nick looked at her as she
looked up. He couldn't forgive himself for what he did and
he couldn't believe he let her go…

Kristy looked up as she heard her and Nick's song
from when they were younger.

"Nick it's our song," she said with a grin. They started singing it
together as Nick watched a beautiful smile cross her
lips.

"You're the only true friend I have," Nick confessed.

"Used to have," she corrected. She laid down on the elevator
floor and closed her eyes. "I can't talk to you anymore,
wake me when we start moving."

"I miss you Krispy," Nick said sadly.

"Apparently you don't, took you 5 years to say something?
Nick I've moved on, so should you," she said rolling over to face
the wall as she opened her eyes. Tears came down her face
again as she cried. "Don't call me by that, I don't go by that
anymore."

"Ever?"

"Never," she said wiping her eyes.
