Chapter 6
"What time is it?" Nick asked.
"Um…10:23," Kristy
said putting her watch back in her bag.
"I can't deal with this, we're
gonna die," Nick freaked.
"No we're not, we're safe Nick. It's
an elevator nothing's going to happen."
"It is! We're going to
die in here!" He panicked. Kristy held
his hand hoping he would calm down
eventually.
"Please Nick, calm down. You're giving me the migraine of
the century."
"Sorry," Nick shrugged. "But what if the
cable wire
breaks and we fall to our death? I've seen it in movies."
"Nick,
you believe the movie Aliens was real so you can't
really say anything okay?
Just relax, breathe in," she said as he followed. "Breathe out."
"I'm
not having a baby, I'm gonna die!" Nick yelled as Kristy laughed. "It's
not funny!"
"Yes…it…is!" She laughed. Nick started to laugh
as Kristy started to cry with laughter.
"Stop!" Nick pouted.
"Okay,
I'm done," she said wiping her eyes. "Oh Nick what
if an Alien jumps
onto the elevator and grabs us through the
fire escape, eating us to the bone!"
She laughed as he folded his arms.
"You're mean," he said like
a baby.
"Nick! What's that!" Kristy pointed to the top of the
elevator.
Nick looked as she poked him, causing him to
jump 5 feet. "HA HA!"
She laughed.
"Oh you're gonna get it," Nick said as he ran over
and started
tickling her.
"STOP!" She laughed as he tickled
her. He got on top of her
and tickled her stomach as she squirmed. "Nickolas
Gene
Carter stop!" As soon as those 3 words echoed, he stopped and
looked
at her.
They just stared at each other like the 8th grade dance. Nick
brushed
his lips against hers and they kissed slowly. Kristy pushed
her tongue into
his mouth as he did the same. It was the one thing
Kristy wanted more than anything
in the world, to have him
again like 5 years ago.
"Oh the elevator's
moving!" Nick jumped up. He helped her up,
though leaving her in the moment
they had.
"Great," she mumbled. As it reached the top, Nick walked
over to
Tristan and Emily.
"I got stuck in the elevator," he
explained.
"With her? I'm sorry Nick!" Tristan said with a laugh
as
Kristy walked over to the punch bowl.
"Hey Kris! Where were you?"
Nicci asked as Kristy looked at
Nick. It was like to him, nothing happened.
"I
got stuck in the elevator with Nick," she said as Nicci's jaw dropped.
"What
happened?" Nicci asked as Kristy sighed.
"I'll be right back,"
she said. She was determined to talk to him
about this, not to let it go like
the 5 years already. She walked up angrily, "Can I talk to you?"
"Oh
look! It's DICK-inson!" Tristan laughed.
"Can I talk to YOU?"
Kristy asked getting agitated of Tristan.
"Why would he want to talk
to a loser like you Krispy?"
Tristan said. As soon as he did…POW! She
punched him in
the face, sending him to the floor as everyone looked at Kristy.
"It
was about time I did that," Kristy said holding her
hand in pain. "Can
I talk to you NOW?" She asked Nick.
"Um…yeah," Nick said as
she took his hand to the stairs exit.
They sat down on the steps as Kristy held
her hand.
"That was awesome Kris," Nick said with a laugh.
"Nick
what happened in there? The elevator?" Kristy asked.
"Um…"
"Are
you going to ignore me still after that? You never wanted
to be my friend, you
just wanted some ass right? And I happened
to be there," Kristy said as
Nick shook his head.
"No I promise it…"
"Can it Carter.
I know you! And don't make promises, I don't
trust you," Kristy said as
tears came out of her eyes. "All that
sappy stuff about how much you missed
me was all bullshit wasn't
it? At least I know now so when I see you I won't
pray you talk
to me, or when you bump into me you smile or laugh like you
used
to, or even make fun of me, at least I won't pray for that.
Now I can get over
you, forever you bastard," she said running down the stairs.
"Kris
wait I…"
"Save it for the cheerleader she's popular and beautiful!"
She yelled back as she ran down the stairs.
"Shit," Nick said
angrily. He punched the wall and stood thinking
of what happened, he didn't
know what to feel for her. But after
what happened and everything he found out
he
definitely needed to talk to her…soon.
