Chapter 4
I slept on the couch, not exactly comfortable.
She was angry over me assuming,
well how am
I not supposed to if she kicks me out? ME?
I pretended to
apologize, hoping
she couldn't see through me.
"Hello?" I asked
knocking on the door.
"Come in," she mumbled angrily. I opened
the door and
saw her sitting on her bed with a towel
wrapped around her body
and soaked hair.
"I wanted to talk about last night," I said sitting
down next to her. Water beads entranced
me suddenly as I looked at her body.
"What
about it?" She asked.
"I'm sorry, I like him, really. I just wish
he wouldn't
interrupt us you know? I'm only here for a while and I
want
to spend more time with you alone," I said hoping
she accepted my cheap
ass apology.
"I'll tell him to stop doing that," she said nodding
at her
own statement. "I'm sorry I made you sleep on the
couch, which's
a really uncomfortable couch to
sleep on, I've tried to," she said with
a grin.
"Oh I deserved it, I'm sorry," I said as she
kissed
my lips lightly. She bought it!
"Let me change and we can go do something,"
Jessie said
getting up and shutting her bathroom door. I got up and did
a
victory dance, I couldn't believe I was
such a good liar! Though that would
be bad in a way…
I got up and changed in khaki cargo pants and a tanktop
and
walked into the kitchen. I grabbed the milk and drank
some out of the carton,
putting it back and
shutting the door to see Jessie in front of me.
"Geez
baby! You scared me!" I said as she giggled.
"Whoops," she
said with a sly grin. She sat down
on the kitchen counter as I walked up to
her.
"Well Yale girl, what are we going to do today?
Get some tea
and crumpets?" I asked as she laughed.
"No…just do some stuff that
I love to do, and
I got an errand to run if that's okay," she
said as
I shrugged.
"I'm the guest."
"When are the guy's leaving?"
She asked hopping
off the counter to me.
"Um…I think tomorrow, I
don't know. They really miss
Florida," I said with a sigh. "I bet
you
do too," I said hoping she'd sigh too.
"I do, a lot,"
she said sighing. YES! Two
scores, a lie and a sigh! I was on a roll that
day.
"Well, come on, let's get out of here," I said
taking her
hand and leading her to the door.
Jessie stopped at the college, it was HUGE!
"I
have something to turn in, come on in," Jessie said
as I took her hand and
walked up the
steps into the university.
"This place is huge,"
I said as she smiled.
"It took me a week just to figure out my class
room
numbers," she said with a laugh. We walked up steps
and into the
last door in the building. "Hi Professor
Burke," Jessie said as I
walked in. Students were
in class but they were talking amongst themselves.
"Hi
Jessica, come to bring your essay?" Professor Burke asked.
"Yep,
I finished it just in time for the
deadline sir," she said pulling out some
papers from her bag.
"Thank you Jessica, and who is this?"
Professor Burke
asked.
"Oh my God it's A.J. from the Backstreet Boys!"
A girl yelled
as I sighed.
"I'm A.J. McLean," I said shaking
the professor's hand.
"Yes I recall, my granddaughter loves you and your
friends," he said as I nodded kindly. I looked at the
students as the
guys checked Jessie out in awe and the
girls checked me out…EW! Some girls looked
and made comments of how cute Jessie and
I were together.
"Jessie
is he your boyfriend?" One girl asked from the back row.
"Yeah
Mallory, he is," Jessie giggled. "Everyone
loves you here," she
whispered in my ear as I nodded.
"My granddaughter is going to your
concert
tomorrow," the professor said as I nodded.
"Maybe I'll see her there,"
I said with a fake smile.
"We better go Professor Burke, see you in
class
Monday," Jessie said with a smile. We walked
out the door as Jessie laughed.
"I think if they stared
any harder there eyes would pop
out of their
sockets," she said as I shrugged.
"I have a gift," I said as
she smacked me.
"Come on let's get out of here. I hate being here,"
she said
grabbing my hand and leading me outside.
She hated being there?
Good thing to remember…
"Tiffany called me," Jessie said stopping
at a red light.
"That freak? What did she want?" I said rolling
my eyes. Just hearing the weirdo's name was
enough for me to barf.
"To
talk to me! She's going to FSU; she's going to be
a teacher too. Wouldn't that
be great if we were in
the same classes?" Jessie asked as she brushed
her
hair back behind her ears.
"Oh yeah, Tiffany 24/7, my lucky day,"
I said with a sigh as
Jessie started driving again. Though I hated to admit
it,
that was another great reason to get her home…
even if that freak was
involved.
"A.J. come on!" Jessie said with a laugh. She was
begging
me to sing to her…to blow my cover
in that restaurant!
"No! I don't
want the same thing that
happened in that classroom," I whined.
"You
don't want to sing to me? You don't
love me?" She said with a puppy dog
face.
"Oh! Why did you have to do that?" I sighed. "What
do
you want me to sing?" I asked as she clapped happily.
"I
don't know…anything! Um…End of the road
by the Boyz 2 Men?" She suggested
as I sighed.
"You really want me to?" I asked.
"Please?"
"Okay…"
I cleared my voice as she smiled brightly.
"All though we've gone, to
the end of the road," I paused
as she smiled. "Still I can't let go,
it's unnatural,
you belong to me, I belong to Jessie!" She giggled
and
clapped.
"You're voice is so pretty baby!" She said kissing me
happily.
"Goes good with my good looks," I said as she laughed.
"Act
like that and I'll take it back," she said as I pouted.
"I'm just
kidding!" She said as we laughed. "Hey can
I come to your concert
tomorrow?"
"Of course! I wouldn't have it any
other way,"
I said as she smiled wider.
"Really? Well I bought tickets anyway
just
in case," she said grabbing her bag.
"You did? What for you know
I would
gladly take you baby!"
"Well, it's a emergency thing,"
she said handing me her tickets.
"Ew! It's like way far back, I would
never be able
to see you," I said handing them to her.
"Well
I got to the ticket place as fast as
I could!" She said as I laughed.
"Don't
worry about it, you can watch from
backstage," I said as she giggled.
"My
baby singing to horny teenage girls! AWW!"
"Watch it," I said
pointing to her as she covered
her mouth.
"Oh did the holy sex symbol
A.J. Mc oh so
Lean get offended?" She said as we laughed.
"Just
you wait, I'll get you later for that,"
I said with a sly grin.
"Oh
I bet…so tell me what's it like to be the newest
New Kids On The Block?"
She asked as she laughed.
"You really love to make fun of me don't you?"
I asked
sniffling. "You're a mean girlfriend!" I put my head down
on the table and pretended to cry.
"Aww, I'm so sowwy," she
said brushing her
fingers through my hair.
"Stop I'm supposed to
be mad at you!" I said as she giggled.
"You're not mad," she
said as I looked at her.
"I'm not?" I asked.
"Nope,
if you were mad at me you wouldn't kiss
me," she said kissing my softly
and I whined.
"You caught me…damn," I said as she giggled.
"A.J.
when are you leaving me?" She asked.
"I don't know, I told the
guys I'd leave with them…"
"That's tomorrow!" She said sadly.
"I
know, I can stay longer, I just miss
my mom and my house…and Florida," I
said
as she nodded.
"I miss you all the time and when you're here
I miss you more," she said as I sighed.
"I know exactly what
you mean," I said taking her
hand…
I had to get her home.
