Chapter 8
Ashley and Nick...
"So you mean to tell me you bought this
house for
your parents?" I asked as I looked at the picture
in his wallet.
"Yeah...so?"
He said grabbing his wallet from me.
"What do you mean so? I need that
kinda money
too you know, send some my way!" I said laughing.
"Why
would I give you any of my money?" He said
with a cute smile.
"You
need me to show you?" I asked laughing.
"Sure. I don't see why not,"
he said grinning.
I ran to my bedroom, "Come here then Nicky!"
He
ran after me as we shut the door laughing.
The next day I woke up, smelling
the outstanding
smell of caffinated coffee.
Leslie made it every morning,
she loved coffee, and she
barely ever slept, so that's what kept her sane.
"Hey
Les, did you see Nick leave?" I asked
pouring myself a cup.
"Yeah,
he left at like 4. Said he would call you later he
had a gig to do in Orlando,"
she said
taking a sip of her coffee. The steam raising over her.
"Thanks...oh
did Brian go see you last night?" I asked
as I sat down next to her warming
my hands
on the mug.
"Actually he got me fired. And told me he
just
wants to be friends, you know guys."
"Not Nick, he's not like that."
"How
do you know? You've only known him for
2 days!"
"I can tell!"
"Oh
okay yeah."
"I can, so their!" I stuck out my tongue as Wendy
came in. She poured herself a cup.
"Just friends bit huh?" Wendy
asked looking at
Leslie. Leslie nodded as she passed Wendy the sugar.
"Jon
said the same thing," she said
shocking Leslie and me both.
"He
did! When?" Leslie asked eager to know.
"Yesterday, remember I went
to see him? He's been
cheating on me with some girl named Sara
or something.
He told me he just wants to be friends."
Wendy has been dating Jon since
middle school, they
were inseparable. It's still hard to believe he
would
cheat on her.
"Why aren't you upset about it?" I asked curiously.
"I
don't know, I think if we dated at least a day longer
I would have broke up with
him anyways. Something
has changed in him, and me. We're just not alike
anymore."
"Wow,"
I said taking another sip of my coffee.
"What about you and Nick? Dating
or what?"
"No, we've decided to have fun as long as he's
around,
our relationship is nothing but a fling.
I don't mind that."
"Yeah
okay," Wendy said giggling.
"What?"
"What do you
mean what? You like him more than
that, I bet you 50 bucks you'll love him but
the
time he leaves."
"You're on Wendy!"
"So
what about you and Brian?" Wendy asked.
"I'm just going to be friends
with him. I mean I doubt
he would ever like me." She got up and sighed,
pushing
her chair under the table. "I've got that
modeling thing today,
you guys coming?"
"Of course! I'm going to tell the guys too!"
I said dialing
their number. Leslie was in a model show
for new bathing suits
at the mall.
"I'm comin' Les, you can't get rid of
me!" Wendy
said ecstatic.
"Hey Nick!" I said as I saw Leslie
nervously
go to her room.
"Hey Ash, what's up babe?"
"Actually,
Leslie is going to be in a fashion show
today at the mall, are you and the guys
coming?"
"I know Brian will won't you Bri!" He started
laughing
on the phone. "Yeah we'll come. When is it?"
"In an hour."
"Okay,
see you there Ash."
"You too, bye!" I hung up the phone
and
looked at Wendy with a sly grin.
"They're coming."
"Leslie
won't be able to do it if there's tons of people
looking at her! Especially Brian.
But he
can come and save her!"
"Definitely."
An
hour later Wendy and I met up with
the guys as we sat down.
Wendy sat
next to A.J., now that Wendy's
single, it all works out!
