Chapter 4

Krys and I didn't talk for the rest of the week, she wouldn't talk
to me. I felt bad even though I didn't know why I should be.

"Hello?" I asked answering the phone.

"Hey," Nick said.

"Where have you been? I've been paging and calling your butt for days!"

"Sorry, I was out of town, you ready to go out?"

"Yeah, when?" I asked looking at the clock.

"8."

"Nick eight is in like 2 minutes," I said as I heard a knock at the door. "Typical of you Carter."

I opened the door and hung up the phone to see
Nick with his cell in hand and a goofy grin.

"Ready to go?" He asked as I sighed.

~*~*~*~

"We're going on your roof for my final?" I asked a little confused.

"Yes shut up, I'll show you why in a second," he said as he
put a ladder up to the side of the house. "Ladies first."

"Thanks I think," I said as I started to climb. I reached the top
and sat down, letting my feet dangle. "Remember when we used
to come up here?" I asked with a grin.

"Yep, then you almost fell off and no one's been
aloud up here since," Nick said with a laugh.

"It's not funny I almost died!" I said with the pouted lip.

"I know, take a joke Caisse," Nick said sitting aside me.

"Wow I forgot about the view," I said looking at the stars.
The moon reflected light onto the lake making it so beautiful.

"Me too!" Nick said with a laugh. "Now this, this is what I miss when I go on tour."

"I bet, I don't know how you could leave something like this," I said in awe.

"You get used to it," he said with a sigh.

"Nick, what happened between you and Krys? She hasn't talked
to me since it happened, and you didn't either," I said looking at him.

"Krys…I can't tell you," Nick said with a sigh.

"Why?"

"Fine you got it out of me," he said with a small grin. "Krys is jealous of
me and you."

"WHAT?" I asked.

"She thinks we got something…or something like that," Nick said
as I cheered in my head.

"Why would she think that?" I asked as I looked at him. The light was
perfect on his face, it was so beautiful. I wanted to kiss him so bad then,
I could almost feel his lips upon mine.

"I don't know! We gotta get to your studying, come on," he said as I sighed.

"Okay but I'm warning you now, I know absolutely no
constellations," I said as Nick shrugged.

"You will by your class, promise," he said with a comforting
voice. "Believe me I don't want you leaving me."

"Thanks Carter," I said with a grin.

"Don't mention it…okay let's start with this one, what's that?"
He said pointing straight above us.

"It's in a straight line…I forgot dammit! I know this…ugh!
Nick help me!" I whined.

"It's Orion's what?" He asked as I groaned.

"I forgot!"

"Oh boy this is going to be a long night," he said as we laughed.

~*~*~*~

"Okay, review time and then you can go home and get
your beauty sleep," Nick said as I nodded confidently.

"That?" He pointed.

"Big Dipper."

"That?"

"Little Dipper."

"That?"

"Orion's Belt."

"That?"

"Camelop…pa…"

"Camelopardis," he corrected as I nodded. "That?"

"Draco."

"That?"

"Corvus."

"That?"

"Come on Nick I know them all now, give it up," I whined.

"Nope, tell me that one," he said as I shrugged.

"What one?"

"That, right there!"

"I don't see any constellation right there Carter," I groaned.

"Come here," he said pulling me to him. "Right there."

"There?"

"Yeah."

"I don't know that one," I said looking at him with a laugh.
We were so close together I could feel his heartbeat pounding.

"I actually don't either," he said softly. We grinned before we
both pulled in, slowly and kissed. It felt so nice, so great…
I wanted to feel more.

"Come on let's um…get you home," he said walking down the ladder.

~*~*~*~

"Thank you for helping me," I said as he parked.

"It took forever, but I finally got you to probably a C on your exam,"
he said with a small grin.

"Are you kidding? Today was definitely B material Carter,"
I said with a laugh.

"B material then, but I did it for you," he said looking at me.
His eyes almost blew me away at how bright they were in the dark.

"I'll always love you for that," I said with a grin. I kissed his
cheek softly and opened the passenger door. "Are you coming in?"

"Not today, it's around 4 anyways I don't want to wake her up," he said as I nodded.

"Bye, I'll call you and tell you how I do," I said as he nodded. "Bye Nick," I waved.

"See ya tomorrow," he said pulling out of the apartment
complex and out onto the road. I sighed and brushed my fingers
against my lips and smiled bright.

I jumped up and down with a smile and ran up the stairs into my bedroom.

"Boomer I love you!" I whispered picking him up and dancing
with him. I put him down and jumped onto my bed, grabbing
my pillow and hugging it tight. I pulled out my poem book and began writing:

The moonlight does wonders to the mind;
This today I did find.
Your face shined deep in my heart;
Where I soon melted apart,
Our embrace made us smile;
As our lips touched for a while,
Soft and pure;
I endured,
How I long for them once more.

I smiled wide and put the book back under my pillow.
I was so happy, yet I didn't know what was going to lye ahead.
