[Heaven Sweep Me Away]

===============================

F e a t u r e (con't)

-----------------
Paul: Hey if you guys can find out if the guy-you know you told me the brain story-
Jimmy: Well off the air we told him a story about the guy...
Rob: Can we just say real quick before we get into that, something that's relative...Paul... um, can we just say something about the people we are playing with
Barnes: Yes, absolutely. Who?
Rob: Very, very important
Paul: First off...Angie
Rob: Yeah Angie
Leslie: He is great
Rob: He is unbelievable. I swear I love him to death, he is a great friend of ours...I hate him cause he is just so good. So unbelievably good and I think that anyone who sees him is just gonna… it is just so magnificent. And I cant stress enough, we're gonna have Soul Asylum and-
Paul: You know idea how geeked we are about that [I swear he said geeked! Iplayed it about 10 times at least!]
Rob: It is such an honor for us just to be on the stage with those guys
Leslie: That is a great tour
Rob: We have been fans of these guys forever and we think it's an honor to be on the stage with them so we-
Paul: And just put out an open thing-Dave, you can't have Joey back
Rob: Yeah, we have their old keyboard player that's with us now. But I think they have like Ivan Neville playing with them or something
Paul: No way.
Rob: Yeah, I mean... They're not hurtin
Leslie: They put out a good record by the way. The Soul Asylum record is really good.
Rob: They are an unbelievable band. I feel like an idiot, just me saying that, like...
Barnes: Biggest rumor you've heard about yourself, that isn't true...?
Rob: [excited] Oooh! My favorite one was that Kyle and Adam were dating each other
Paul: But at the same time-
Rob: But at the same time, Kyle was dating Wynona Rider and also that me and Adam Duritz were lovers
Paul: Yeah, but you started that one
Rob: But it was a joke!
Paul: He went on MTV and said that
Barnes: Who did?
Paul: Rob did.
Rob: I did. I had to call Adam up the next day and be like... hey, you been watching MTV? Sorry bout that...
[then jimmy trys to play the clip from when Courtney Cox was on, but it was the wrong clip...]
Rob: Hey listen, Atlanta, Courtney Cox likes us a whole lot! Just trust Jimmy on that one!
Leslie: Any shout outs?
Paul: Lequisha
Rob: Hey, I wanna give a shout out to Lequisha. I wanna give a shout out to my Hoskisa sittin back in the hotel room...
Paul: I have no shout outs...
Rob: No shout outs...
Barnes: Ok guys, you're out of here
Rob: Thank you guys very much
Barnes: Back 2 Good. This is Matchbox 20. [Back 2 Good plays]
Rob: [over end of song] Hey! Hey!
Barnes: What? What?
Leslie: Rob wants to clarify something here.
Rob: We have to talk about this for a second.
Barnes: If you haven't figured it out, Matchbox 20, they're still here.
Leslie: He wants to clarify something
Rob: Yeah, we're not goin anywhere. Listen for a second. This is very important.
Barnes: Her [a caller talked to off air] question was-Did Rob hook up with girl on MTV interview?
Rob: NO! No no noooo no. It was this girl from FANatic on MTV, nice girl, whatever, huge fan, we were all-MTV shoved us-like 7 of us-on this one little couch, so we were all like kinda up next to each other and so it was all very close and it looked all very very buddy-buddy, but it was not at all
Paul: A lot of people thought Rob was flirting with that girl
Rob: No, and that is not-
Paul: Rob treats everyone like that
Rob: I'm very nice
Paul: He did not sleep with that girl
Rob: I did not do anything with that girl. I wasn't even flirting with that girl really. I was just like, you know, bein nice.
Leslie: Ok, the world knows now.
Barnes: The world knows
Paul: I've actually gotten that question a lot.
Rob: Yeah see, that was... ya know... come on...
Barnes: She's gone now, don't get worked up
Rob: Alright
Barnes: Good bye again.
Rob: Thanks
Barnes: Bye guys. Matchbox 20. Thanks for coming.

I was shopping at Musicland (Sam Goody, etc.) today and saw a Mb20 poster. It has a green background, with a collage of pictures, some color, some black and white. There are various on stage and restroom pix. The pix are one's I've never seen before. Anyway the poster costs $5.99 and the number on it is #6182 "Matchbox 20 collage".

Nancy [my sis] and I saw Matchbox20 in St. Louis on Paul's b-day. A girl in the front row threw a box of runts on stage and Kyle just walked around it. When Brian ran around the stage, I screamed "You go, Boy!" After singing "3 a.m.", Rob looked up at the balcony and saw some couple making out then said: "That's sweet!" Rob wanted to remind the crowd about what day it was so the whole audience sang "Happy Birthday" just for Paul! The cool thing was: we showed up early enough to hear the soundcheck for "Argue"! I didn't get to meet them cuz I got thrown out for sneaking backstage by a female security guard. It was cool though!

Meeting Rob was soooooo kewl. I went to see Matchbox 20 on May 21, 1998.
The opening act was Rebekah. She is really talented. Anywayz, the concert started at 8 pm and we (my bro-in-law Dennis, my sis Shelly, my best friend Jenny, and me) got there at like 4 pm. So we had to stand outside until the doors opened at 6. Well around 5:30 Rob Thomas came outside and was signin autographs and stuff. Me and Jenny ran down to see him. She started to cry. It was the funniest thing. I found some paper on the ground for me and her that he could sign. He signed them both and Jenny hugged him. We ran back and told my sis and Dennis that he was down there....and then me, jenny, and my sis ran down to see him AGAIN. Well, Jenny got his autograph AGAIN. and so did my sister. I just stood there and told him that MB 20 RAWX and stuff like that. And he smiled at me and said thanx! Jenny hugged him AGAIN and got him to sign her shirt. So that night she got his autograph 3 times! and she hugged him twice. I didnt hug him though....i tried but he turned. Oh well. Then he had to go inside. So me and Jenny ran back up to the doors and they opened them. Now the concert was General Admission. So we could sit anywhere we wanted to. Me and Jenny ran down this flight of stairs., almost falling the whole way. We got in SECOND ROW!!! We had tio stand for the whole concert it was a tight squeeze, and we were hot and sweaty, but we didnt care. Then Rebekah opened up for MB20, she was really good! Then MB20 came on 30 minutes after she got off stage. ANYWAYZ MB20 RAWKED!! Then it was time to go. The concert was sooooooo kewl! Too bad it had to end. Pretty kewl huh?

i had a clear vision of creating a series of autobiographical songs that were confessional and as fresh as possible on the subject of love, which has been historically exhausted but is still endlessly fascinating - adam cohen on his self-titled debut album

[b i o g r a p h y]-excerpts from the official bio on

Adam may be the son of Leonard, one of the greatest singer-songwriters of them all, but he is also a striking new voice for our time whose dark, romantic and intelligent songs draw upon a classic tradition of poetic expression yet with an entirely contemporary focus. Within the space of a dozen songs on his self-titled debut album Adam Cohen has mapped out his own unique musical landscape and forged a rich emotional identity all his own.

Musically the album is a dynamic blend of diverse sounds and influences stamped with Cohen's own unique voice. "We used drum machines alongside live drums and we juxtaposed synthesizers and technological sounds with

acoustic guitars and natural voices," he explains. "I wanted a classic sound with a modern sensibility and at the same time create an intimacy so that the narration of the songs was never interrupted by the music."

Deeply personal and highly romantic, there is also an undeniably darker edge running through Cohen's songs. "I fall in love every day with someone, something or a place," he says. "It's the result of an acrobatic imagination. I suppose the darkness comes from the fact that I suffer great disappointment with life on a regular basis and the best

therapy is to write about it. It's song-writing as exorcism."

----

[lyrics]thank god for my bad memory/i've forgotten some of the stupid things/that i've done/i've come to a little wisdom/through a whole lot of failure/so i watch more carefully what rolls off my tongue - 'cry ophelia'

----

The result is a series of compelling and startlingly honest vignettes that explore the hidden underbelly of human relationships. Cohen is a romantic but he does not shy away from the tangled emotional web of jealousy, revenge and treachery that often goes with the territory.

"I hope the songs are evocative and reminiscent of other people's personal predicaments or identifiable, or a consolation or an intrigue," says Cohen. "But I hope they are also simply enjoyable. If the record helps make the dish-washing easier or a long drive more enchanting then it has done its job."

If you're getting sick as hell of the MB20 poster on your wall (I know we all have it...the one with Rob staring you down) make your own damn poster! I saved all the clippings from out of magazines and used pictures of them I had in my download file and made 2 gigantic bitchin posters. Another one is on the way with all of my new stuff! All it takes is scissors, glue, and big posterboard, and you can get it laminated like I did (only $16, that's less than a concert ticket thesedays) OK kids, have fun!

I think I have finally figured out the mystery of the baby heads on Adam's amps. It comes from Mardi Gras and the head are from all the babies he has found in the King cakes!!!! Ha!! Ha!!!

Also, Let Rob know my first concert was in 1975 - I was 11 years old and my parents took the whole family to see non other than the King himself "Elvis" in Philadelphia. Pretty good concert I must say so myself!!!!!

Imagine the Future

Woke Up With a Scream

I Was Buying Some Feelings

From a Vending Machine

- V E R V E

Late Christmas night I sat in my dark living room going through the music channels. Going to VH1 I saw they were running a 'Greatest Rock 'N Roll Artists of All Time' feature. I'd missed most of it but caught the Top 10. It was a pretty great thing to watch actually. James Brown went by (gotta love him), David Bowie, Bob Dylan, and somewhere in there Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix has always fascinated me yet I own none of his albums. The volume on the tele was low, the Hendrix feature was on, and I was paying attention but had a lot on my mind. As I watched him a lyrics floated through my head ('Remember me one last time when you touch the sky'). I'm not sure if I blatently ripped off a Hendrix lyric there but it made me run to paper to write it down. Has this happened to anyone else? It's so effortless and the most brilliant things pop out of nothing. That line ('Remember me...') may suck to someone else but I like it enough.

This whole experiance got me to thinking about songwriting and matchbox 20. Lyrics have always been what kept me with a band. The ability to put all of yourself, your deepest thoughts and fears and then allow masses of people to analyze you in your truest form is a horrifying and amazing thing. I couldn't do it.

'Yourself or Someone Like You' is such a human album. You lie on your bed with it turned up so you can feel it in your temples. You can relate to it, it touched you. Pain is a pretty universal language and it's sprawled across this album. Loneliness, the truth, and knowing you just shouldn't feel this way. With the new album I'm looking for some more brilliant lyrics and in turn songs. For now I'll just pop in this album or one of my live recordings. Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream. It's a beautiful and intense space.

Q: I also have a question. Is Rob in fact engaged? And also are there any pics of Maison?

A: Rumors online said that Marisol and Rob had broken up, but the new
issue of YM says the opposite. We are not quite sure on this.
Rob and family haven't released any pictures of Maison.

Q: I thought Matchbox 20's home video was supposed to be released on February 2, 1999. What happened?

A: We aren't really sure! We also heard February 2nd, and some online music stores had it listed for release then. We recently heard it got pushed back until June. We'll keep you updated!

I loved this page. One of the first things I noticed was the background a collage like picture of the group. This page has many sections to choosefrom. One of the best sections is the fan pictures. In my opinion, the best thing about this page: A Matchbox 20 Story. It's an ongoing fictional story, submitted by fans, about our matchsticks. It's too funny. (totally a must see-so go check it out!!!!)
