~Opinions concerning Matchbox 20(cont')~

5. What would you do if you saw any of the guys randomly walking down the street?
 - Well I guess I'd have to say hello, and then walk on unless they stopped to talk...
 - If i saw rob i would run up and kiss him and tell him i love the music SO much!
 - I'd walk up to them and make intelligent conversation about their music, being a musician (seeing as how I'm one too), or about music in general.
 - I'd approach Rob and ask if he remembered me and he'd say no, then I'd go cry! Just kidding! I'd ask him if he'd sing Damn for me acoustic, just me and him! I love that song!!! And I'd remind him that he's a sweetie, and I'd love to hang out with him whenever he's in town, or just marry him, which ever he'd prefer!
 - I would walk up to them and ask them for their autographes. Then I would ask them what they were up to. Then probably leave.
 - Umm, act cool probably, but stop them and tell them that i really thought they were great and tell them how much their music has meant to me in my life.
 - I would probably freak on the inside, then casually go up to them and say hi, arent you so and so? and if they are, then i would say how much i love their band and how much they mean to me, , i would try really hard not to cry---it was rob, i would be crying hard
 - If I saw any of the band members, preferebly Rob, I would probably freak out and not be able to approach him, whether it be Rob, Paul, Kyle, Adam, or Brian until I gave myself a pep talk and encouraged myself saying how this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and finally approach him and tell him what good singer/guitarist/bassist/drummer he was and how Matchbox 20 is my favorite band, and ask for a autograph, a hug, and if I was feeling really bold, a kiss on the cheek, unless he went smack dab on my lips.
-I would ask if him/they wanted to go to lunch with me. I really enjoy talking with them
 - I'd walk up to them and say, "Hey, aren't you in Matchbox20?" Then I'd ask what's up and ask them to autograph something. (I always carry around my CD, so they'd probably sign that.)
 - YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Probably follow one, and then act like I didn't know who he is, seduce him and then marry him! hahaha
 - Act the same way i would if they were someone i either knew or did not know, just be my self, they are people to.
 - Tell them that i really connect with their music. Tell Rob that he is a great story teller and that the lyrics really mean something and are really powerful. Tell them that they have an excellent live show and that when the play "Time After Time" i melt, and that they are one of my favorite bands and that I can't wait to see them in concert again. Then I'd probably faint. : )
 - I would jump Rob ( hey, you wanted the truth, right?)
 - Oh gosh....um....after I finally regain concsiousness, I'd probably tell them how much their music has helped me make a huge transition in my life from high school to college. I don't even think I could begin to count how many nights I've spent listening to that CD (and obsessing over Rob, but that's a different story*L*). I would also tell them how awesome they are live...then I would ask Rob to marry me...or at least take me away with them(just kidding!!)!!
 - I wouldn't say anything, I would let them have just a normal day without some fan raggin on them.
 - I would say hello, and talk to them (hey, I'm a guy, what do you expect me to do....kiss them?)
 - I'd say "hey freaks! way to go! love the music, now get back in the studio and record a new album!!! love ya, guys!"
 - I'd probably want to freak out ....but of course then they would think I was some ignorant little girl. I wouldn't want to tell them what an influnce they'ld been or how I love them....my reasoning for this is they should know it because I'm there talking to them.......so in closing I would have to say .....I don't know what I would do or say.......I would probably be like you guys are cool as shit ....Kyle you can really break it down...Sounded like Stevie Ray Vaughn.....Paul you know your cool....Brian and Adam you know your good....least I hope they do...and Rob? What would I say to old Rob?...I'd say Rob you voice is great and you sing with such passion and feeling; which is great because the rest of the band plays with your vigor.....what I would be thinking...oh lord I want your bod.. nevertheless.....
 - Talk to them, ask them about them and their performances (like why I've never heard them cover a song, what they think about bootlegs, the Spice Girls, Bill Clinton, and Denis Rodman, what annoys them about fans, journalists, and other musicians, what do
they like about fans, journalists, and other musicians, and which one, Blur or Oasis)
 - I go up to him and act like I didn't know who he was, but find something he had on him or some feature I liked and compliment him on it. Maybe a coversation could start. He might find it annoying if you went up to him and was like "You are great!! I love your music!!! I love you :-)" So I would play it cool and maybe get a conversation going to actually say "Hey I carried on a converstaion with a band member of Matchbox 20!!"
 - After I caught my breath, and picked up my tounge from the gound, I'd prolly go over and talk to them, adn tell them how much i love them and i'd ask them to sign some stuff for me.. :-)
 - I'd go and talk to them, and have a couple butts. You know, the usual social thing. Then, I'd be wired and madd psyched for the next..umm.... millenium
- I would probably start jumping up and down, hitting the person I was with, repeating over and over again, "Ohmigod.....that's _____!!!!!!!!!!!!" Then, after I regained my sanity, I'd probably walk over to them and try to talk to them.....saying anything I could get
out, hoping it sounds like English, and makes sense. But I'm sure that after talking to them hours over at the coffee shop that they invited me too, I'd be just fine, and they love them!!!
 - Being me, i probaly wouldn't recognize them. but if i did, i'd tell my self i was hallucinating, but go up to them anyway, and ask for an autograph or something, maybe ask them if i could take them out to lunch.
 - I'd be too excited! I'd probably flip out then end up asking something stupid like "Do you know who you are?!?!?!" After I regained sense, I'd ask for autographs, and ask every person who walked by if they had a camera so I could remember it forever!
 - I'm not sure what I would do, I would say I would walk up to them and tell them I love thier music, but when it came down to it I probably would chicken out and not do it. If that happened I probably would end up following them which would make it look like I was stalking them so.....that's what I would do!!
 - I would say '"excuse me are you ..?" and strike up a conversation..and probably
look like an idiot and a crazed fan,but what the heck,I would still have met them :)
 - If I ever get a chance to bump into, per say, either Rob, Kyle, Adam, Brian, or Paul, I would congratulate them on their success......then I would tell them how their music has changed me. It has inspired me to look towards life differently, to view it in a better sense and I just want to thank them for that. Also, I would tell them to keep up the good wotk and can't wait for their next album to come out.
  - DEFINITELY accost them, shower them with compliments, ask about the tour, shower them with praise again, probably get a picture even though I'd feel dorky :)
 - After being in shock that I saw them again and especially walking down the street, I would walk up to them and start talking to them, like normal human beings. They make you feel so comfortable.
 - I have no idea what I would do. I do not know whether I'd actually walk up to them and say hi. I'd probably be speechless. It probably depends on the setting and guy. I know so much about each one so it would be different. With, let's say, Adam, I would probably try to figure out how people get that cute. Brian--how they get such nice hair.
Kyle--where the younger version is. Same for Paul. Rob--umm? I don't know. And all of them--"Will you marry me?" *lol*
 - I would try to control myself and think up something meaningful and eloquent. Ahh well, I'd probably end up stutterring and mumbling about how I really appreciate their music. It was a nice thought though.. :::grins:::
 - I'd probably say something stupid ( and i've done it w/ other bands) , like hey, you're ROB!! (or Kyle, or Adam, or Brian, or Paul) really loud and say WOW! this is not happening and stike up a convo if i can and of course get their signature

================================ *Funny How it Comes to Pass* Concert Reviews ================================ ~Matchbox 20 concert experiances~ THE AUSTIN SHOW!!! HALLOWEEN & MATCHBOX 20!!! Ok, here it is, my quick review of the Austin, Texas show the boys played on Halloween night. First of all, a big group of us folks that sign the guest book on mb20's webpage got together and met. That was way cool! There was Cassandra & Martha from Georgetown, Deb from Dallas and from Houston, there was Becky, Marisa, Kori, Lorena, Stacy, Kristi, Eunice and myself, Jones! Ok, I didn't get to meet everyone, just Stacy...I've met Cassandra, Martha, Becky & Marisa before...but the others were there... Alright, when Cassandra & I walked into the Austin Music Hall @ 8pm, the first person we literally run into is ADAM! Cassie says "That's Adam!" and runs off to say hi. Me, being the freak I am, wave and go to the bar first. I get my drink and come back to say hi to Adam. Cassie and I are both in costumes: she's in a 1920ish shaker dress and I am my barbarian self. Adam is a SWEETHEART, but a bit strange. We talked about the guestbook on the webpage and all of us that had met via the guest book and how he enjoys our messages. Then, this freak looks right at me and says "Don't hurt anyone!" I look at him like "What?!" then he says "Don't throw anything at me when I'm on stage, I hate that!" I'm thinking to myself about this time yep, he's the weird one, but I tell him instead "Well, be glad they wouldn't let my bring my swords in, otherwise I'd be pushing YOU around!" He laughed and asked about my sword collection as we walked off. I saw him again later at the bar while the opening act was on and he waved and I waved back, but I was on a quest to find the ladies room, so I didn't go talk to him again. Hey, when ya gotta go, ya gotta GO! =) Anyways, the show rocked! They opened w/ "Busted" and that set the tone for the rest of the night. Like I said, they rocked! New light show and the new songs were incredible! They played the full set from the album, as well as "Tired", "U & U & I" (?) and a brand new one written and sung by Kyle! That was a wonderful surprise. The crowd was totally into it. By the way, it was a sold out show! Well, that's about it...They got on the bus and headed for Dallas/Ft.Worth area for the Rolling Stones show, but I didn't go to that... Can't wait to see them again! This time was #3 this year; but I'm really looking forward to a new album! Take care, everyone! -Jones Hawkfire3@aol.com HERE IS A CONCERT REVIEW THAT YOU ARE WELCOME TO USE IN LONG DAY: Last night [Monday, October 27th], I attended my first concert ever (I'm 14, and my dad is finally giving me a little freedom!). It was the Matchbox20 show at The Ritz last night! It was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! I went alone, but I guess that was just as well because I could just absorb myself in the music and the experience without anything else to worry about. I got to the club about 7:20, after my dad got a little lost on the way. We took a wrong turn, and we didn't turn back until we passed the mall a quarter of the way across town. Oh well, it was only a 10 minute line to get in, I was situated about 7:30. I was about 5 rows of people from the stage, on the right side of the stage. They had some pretty boring and annoying music playing over the loudspeaker, but I really didn't care at all. It was the moment I'd been waiting for since my dad had told me the weekend before last. Finally the stage crews finished their work with all the guitars, drums, microphones, and stuff, and the opening act came on. The opening act was a woman named Lily Haydn. I was really impressed by her music. It's really hard to describe, much unlike anything I'd ever heard before. I can't really say a whole lot about the songs themselves seeing as how I don't know her lyrics (and could not hear quite a few of them over the music backing her up…), but I loved the instrumentation. It was unique, consisting of guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, cello, and Lily's violin. SOME idiots, teenybopper/college age boys, were screaming junk like "take it all off!!" and little innuendoes like that. That was uncalled for, and she took it pretty well. Overall, a really good opener. Let me just put it this way: I got so into Lily Haydn's performance that I completely forgot that there was another show yet to come. I finally remembered at the end of her performance, "Duh! Matchbox20 is coming on!! I can't wait!" More music blared over the loudspeakers as the stage crews fixed up for Matchbox20. Here's how wired I was during the almost 30 minute wait: I hate Song 2 by Blur, and I even happily WHOO-HOOed with the rest of the crowd. I didn't care about anything else, Matchbox20 was coming!! Finally, the lights dimmed and Matchbox20 opened with Busted. From then on, it was just an out-of-body experience for me. I was probably one of the few, the proud, the sober when it came to blood alcohol level, but if you counted how into the music I was, I might as well have had fifteen kegs of beer. All I really wanted was for them to play most of my 5 faves: 3am, Push, Busted, Back 2 Good, and Kody. I have no clue what the setlist order was, but I do know that they played every song on Yourself Or Someone Like You and they played three others: Tired, You and I, and a third song that I don't think Rob gave a title for, but he was on stage alone playing acoustic guitar for it and it was just AWESOME! It was a true story, he said, and the song (to me) had to do with a woman he was in a relationship with just up-and-saying that she didn't care, right when he seemed to need her the most. It was beautiful. He played that song, You and I, and Long Day (or, at least half of it, then he asked us if we were having a "fuckin' good time") in the encore set, the other 12 were the first set. It was perfect. Matchbox20 was energetic and into the show, and the crowd was fired up along with them! Everyone on the floor was dancing, singing if they knew the words, and just letting loose. Especially Real World: the crowd was going completely crazy during that one-it was amazing!! There was a bit of moshing during "Push", which was cool with me! It was really awesome, I felt really awesome when I looked square at Adam and smiled-and he looked square at me and smiled back-TWICE!! And on Hang and You and I: Kyle sang them, his voice is SO awesome! He should sing more, it would give Matchbox20 a whole second identity, a nice contrast to Rob's voice. It was a very emotional experience for me-I started crying when they played Back 2 Good and have been crying on and off since, whether at the concert or even now, a day afterwards. Overall, it was beyond words. Definitely the best night of my life. After the show, I joined the jam to get out. I wanted to stay to possibly meet the band, but I was already 10 minutes late in calling my dad for a ride home. The path out passed me right by the dressing room, so I asked nicely but to no avail if the guard would let me through to meet MB20. A minute or two later-I hadn't moved-Rob Thomas came out to sign autographs!!!!! I ended up not just getting his signature on my ticket, he also talked to me for a couple minutes. I told him that 3am was my favorite Matchbox20 song and that I felt like Back 2 Good was my life story and I got very emotional (as in crying) that night when I heard it, even though I had never been in a relationship. His reply (with a laugh) was that I needed to get in one, so I told him there was this guy I liked… Well, his next quip was that I should go for it-and then cheat on him. We talked a little longer, and then said goodbye. That was just awesome, I still can't believe that I actually met Rob!!! He was so nice, had such a good sense of humor, and seemed down-to-earth. I was impressed. In less important matters than personality, he looks good in pictures but even better in person! Well, my adventure wasn't quite over yet. I asked a guard where the nearest phone was, he told me it was outside The Ritz. I had to call my dad for a ride home, so I went out to look for a phone. No luck. I asked another guard, he told me the nearest pay phone was at The Longbranch, a club across and down the street. I went there, looked all over the empty, dark property, and found no phone. I went back and asked another guard, and back to The Longbranch she sent me. Still no luck. I went back and asked a third guard, I ended up on a third walk to The Longbranch. That time I saw 2 pay phones-INSIDE the building. It was locked and empty, I tugged on the doors to no avail. I returned (again!) to The Ritz, and luckily there was an empty cab to take me home. I wouldn't have had enough money to pay the cab except that the Lily CD's had sold out there so I only got a t-shirt. If I had been able to get the CD, I'd have had to get a loan from my little sister when the cab got home. I got home around 11:30, only to find that my dad had left to look for me. I called him (he had his cell phone, thank goodness) and explained the whole thing. Last night was definitely the greatest night of my life. I think I'll stop talking now, I bet I've wandered off a little too far into "Nickyville" as it is. Thanks, Nicky PITTPEN66@aol.com Omigosh! I just flew back home last night and all I can say is that these guys ROCK. I love Matchbox 20 and I absolutely adore Rob. I flew into New York last Thursday to catch the show at Hammerstein. I had hoped to see them in Boston as well, but unfortunately, with the storms in both New York and Boston, I was somewhat immobile last Friday. I was so disappointed. Everytime I see them they get BETTER AND BETTER. I can't wait until they return to the Bay Area. I am so looking forward to the next time, hopefully New Year's Eve. Sincerely, Lisa Martinez Reeves902@aol.com November 9, 1997 was one of the best nights of my whole entire life! I went to go see the guys again, for my second time. They were better than ever. So let me share with you my story. The show was at the 9:30 Club in DC and this was the bands third or second time playing there. The doors opened at 7:30 and my dad and I got there at 6:30 and so we waited in line for an hour. We were pretty close to the front of the line. We were right next to the alley so we could see the crew bus and the tour bus from where we were standing. We are standing in line and this person no taller than me, well maybe an inch or so taller walks past the line, I am about 5'2, and he is holding a cup in hand(coffee i assume, very cold out) and was wearing a long jacket, and glasses. I swore the guy looked like Paul...He was also wearing a green/black beaure type hat. So I go "Paul", outloud but he didn't hear me and he went back to the alley. I was like so you know nervous and I didn't want to run up to him or anything. So I stood there, and then for the rest of the night throughout the concert was like Damn I missed Paul! It's 7:30 and we get inside, standing room only except at the top of the club where you can sit down, and we stood about the third row back, very close to the front of the stage. I bought another matchbox20 shirt, it was black with the cd cover on the front. I slipped it over my Rob type shirt! Lily Hayden and her band came on the stage and they played for about 45 minutes. She rips on her violin! While she was performing, I looked up in the balcony above the stage and I saw Paul sitting and watching and I started waving frantically but he didn't see me. Then Kyle came out and I waved but he was oblivious to everything except this person he was talking to. Then Rob came out and I waved even more frantically and Rob saw me and waved back and then the whole crowd started waving at him( See the trend I set! Hehehe)The band was great and I really liked her. I was going to purchase her album but I didn't. Then the almighty *Gods* came on! They had a whole new light setup and everything, they were even better now and more experienced then they were when I saw them in August. They opened with Busted, then they performed with Argue...and from then on, I was too focused to remember the rest of the set list. They sang You and I and I and Tired( Awesome songs might I add). Kyle sang Happy, very cool song, and Rob sang Dear Joan, another rad song. Rob fooled around on his guitar a bit and made some jokes about Elvis but in Rob's words "I'm an Elvis fan, I am allowed to make fun". :) After the show I was so upset it was over. I remember that I had brought two magazines with me: Music Connection and Maximum Guitar. I was determined to meet the guys. So after waiting outside the bus for over an hour in the freezing cold, Kyle finally came out. I met him and he signed and we talked. Then Paul, such a cutie and my height, came out signed and talked with me. Then Brian and Adam came out and we all talked and signed and I hugged Adam! Then they had to go, and so Rob couldn't come out. I had met Rob before in August and gotten his signature, so I was upset but not totally upset. So then as the bus was pulling away, he stuck his head out the window and waved and blew a kiss :*. I didn't get to take any pics cuz the camera was left in my car. That is the only thing I regret. The concert was awesome and they were even more amazing the second time around! I hope to see them again! -LuvMB203EB@aol.com Hey all! I know this is a little late/outdated/what have you, but it was still a great show. I'm talking about the one they played at the Schine Student Center at the SU campus on November 8th. Lily Hadyn opened, and when I blocked out the person behind me, named Adam, who had been asking my friend Jenny to take him to my schools semi formal, she sounded really great. She really gets going on that violin! I found out later that she also played violin on the first Better Than Ezra album, so if you're a fan of hers, check that out. Matchbox 20 came out, and even though it was the third show of theirs that I've seen in the past 4 months it was still kick ass. They started out with "Busted", then did all of the other Yourself or Someone Like You tunes, mixing in some personal favorites like "Tired" and "You and I and I". After they all took a smoke break, Rob came out and did a solo with his Elvis guitar. It was a really beautiful song, having something to do with a woman named Joan. Everyone had their lighters going. I couldn't get it out of my head for a week! Then he promised that the next time they came to Syracuse they would be in a place where people could drink. How kind of him, don't you think? After the show my friends and I waited in the freezing rain to meet them (for a third time), and when we did, they felt so bad for us, they gave us Dunkin' Donuts and a hug. Matchbox 20 aren't only some bitchin' musicians, but they're nice guys too. Aww, isn't that special? See ya on the flipside...Peace. -Jessie from Syracuse DivaJ1023@aol.com On November 4, 1997, I had the pleasure of seeing my favorite band, matchbox20, in concert. The concert was in Chicago, at the Riviera nightclub. It was an all-ages show, sponsered by the local alternative radio station, Q101. Tickets were $17.50 and were general admission. The show started at 7:30, with a performance by warm-up artist, Lili Haydn. She was pretty good...I think I was just too close to the front to really enjoy her performance. matchbox20 took the stage around 9:00. By that time, I had managed to fight and claw my way past the drunk sorority girls to find a spot on the fence in the front of the auditorium. This is where I start to get a little fuzzy. Rob was wearing tight black pants and a velvet top that had maroon flowers on it, and when he was sweaty he could see through it. I really don't remember what anyone else was wearing...but I remember thinking that Kyle needed to eat(he looked thin). They opened the show with one of my two favorites, "Busted". The show totally kicked ass. Adam was right in front of me, and kept seducing the four or five of us girls standing there with his eyes...he DEFINITELY has stage presence!! They played every song on the CD, a few that they only play live, including "You and I and I", and a new song that Kyle has been working on. If you go to a live show, you know that there are a few extra verses to "Long Day", which was the show's closer. The boys played for an hour and a half, and that was the BEST hour and a half of my life(so far...I'm only 18). This was my first EVER concert. I would have to say that it was a hell of a show to pick for a first concert experience. They totally rocked and it was worth getting beer spilled in my hair just to see Rob close up in tight pants! *L* Happy Holidays to you and your family!! -Kristie Kuder Chesterton, Indiana matchbox20_girl@usa.net
