~Hello from all of us at Long Day 'Zine~

Hello, hello, hello!!! -
Welcome to Issue #7 of the Long Day Zine. We would first off apologize for being SOO late. We've been pretty busy lately, it being the end of the school year and also during Spring Break some of us were out of town and unable to work on the Zine... We also have an announcement to make in the next C4C... But you'll hear about it then. We hope to have a big interview for the next issue possibly from another relative of the band... but we don't know yet. Anyways... Here is the issue and let us know what you think!

Hi, my name is Lynn and I have some mb20 info to share with you guys. first of all, matchbox 20 will be appearing on mtv on April 10 at the ten spot. This will be from their NYC concert (which I attended) which was held on March 20. Next, at the concert I just went to, I took some pics of the band. Unfortunatly, most of them didn't turn out well because we weren't allowed to have cameras at all (mtv was taping). If you are interested in putting them on the web, just let me know and I will scan them to you.
 -MCKELLY@compuserve.com

Matchbox20 is in US, Circus, Bikini, and Music Choice this month.
Real World will premiere March 24th.
They also have this fund going where if you bring things to a concert like sleeping bags they donate it to the poor kids.
 -BrandGuess@aol.com

 There is a Band Q & A at the official MB20 site
(http://www.matchbox20.com/) where fans ask questions and the band answers
them on the web site. I know a lot of people are wondering what's going on
with MB20's appearance on MTV's Ten Spot. Well, someone asked when it was
going to air on that Q & A page, and the band's answer was:

"It should air April 10th at 10pm on MTV. Bring some popcorn. We will
 provide the softdrinks."
 -winn1@spectra.net

The guys just finished filming the video for Real World in Las Vegas, and will be out sometime in April.
 -Angel17256@aol.com
[NOTE: The "Real World" video also premiered on MTV the 10th of April]

I just got a mag today called Circus and it has about 3 MB20 pics and about 5 or 6 pages on them. Johnathan (the lead singer of Korn) is on the cover.
 -MADHATT14@aol.com

Rob is in People's "50 Most Beautiful People" or whatever the hell it's called. If you have a subscribtion ya prob have it by now. If you don't it'll be in stores in a week or so. It's a 2 page spread with a rad pic I hear.

 ~How they rate to you~

Our guys played "Live at the 10 Spot" on MTV Friday 4/10/98. It was
45 minutes of a show they played at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New
York City. It was pretty good to see it on TV, even after seeing them
in person. They opened with "Busted", closed with "Push", and encored
with "Long Day". It was all really great. Is it just me, or does Rob
appear to have put on a little weight? Maybe it was just the "TV - 10
pounds" that made him look a little bigger. Who cares though? It was
the best show I've seen on MTV in a long time!
 -bowgren@netnitco.net

Hey everyone! I hope everyone got a chance to see the new Matchbox20 video for "Real World" because I did. It was really kewl...I really liked it. I never knew Rob looked sooo good in a suit and tie. He along with the other four cuties look great! If you didn't see it yet, make sure you do! I also saw the "Live at the 10 spot" thing on MTV from their concert on March 20 in NYC...I was supposed to go, but I couldn't....so I was so hapy when I got a chance to see it on MTV. It's really good! This is how it went...they started out with Busted, then Argue. Then they did Girl Like That, followed by Real World. Then there was a short commercial break. Afterwards, they did Damn and 3AM followed by amother commercial break. Then they did Back to Good....Rob said that this was a song about f***ing up so much that you eventually got good at it. Then they performed push. To my dissapointment, there was more commercials. When they came back they did Long Day as their encore. It was great. In a way I felt like I was there. I've never seen the boys in concert and I hope I get a chance to see them soon. After seeing this live performance, it made me even more anxious because they were sooo good! For those of you that didn't get a chance to see it...don't worry! I have it one tape! =) Well, that's all for this issue...sorry it's so long....L8eRz Guyz....
 -MaRviNLvRr@aol.com

Matchbox 20's performance on the 10 Spot was awesome. Busted sounded
incredible, and so did everything else they played. I really liked the
addition to the beginning of 3am. The only thing that disappointed me
was that they didn't play KODY. But other than that, it couldn't have
 been better!

I've only seen the REAL WORLD video once, but it seems pretty cool. The
part where Paul is dressed up like a woman is hilarious. I hope they
start playing it more on MTV, cuz it's an awesome video!
 -busted7@juno.com

LIVE AT THE 10 SPOT WAS JUST AWESOME!! THE GUYS LOOKED GREAT, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY THEY SOUNDED EXCELLENT! THEY HAVE GOT TO BE ONE OF THE GREATEST LIVE PERFORMERS AROUND! ROB WAS SO FUNNY AT THE END, WHEN HE SHOWED THE POSTER SAYING "KYLE, I'D REACH MY HAND DOWN YOUR POCKET ANYDAY!" ROB: "CUZ YOU ARE A SEXY MAN!" LOL! I'M GOING TO SEE THEM ON JUNE 2ND, FOR THE FIRST TIME! I'M SO EXCITED! ESPECIALLY AFTER WATCHING THE TEN SPOT AND SEEING WHAT A GREAT LIVE BAND THEY ARE! PEACE, LOVE, AND MATCHES!
 -JACKI BROOKER, NORWALK OHIO

For those who are looking for intense lyrics you can relate to, and music you can feel, look no further. Matchbox 20's Atlantic debut, Yourself Or Someone Like You, is a must-have that delivers just that. With the success of their first two singles, "Long Day" & "Push", Rob Thomas, Adam Gaynor, Paul Doucette, Kyle Cook, & Brian Yale are a standout amongst the new bands of today.

This CD, which was produced by Matt Serletic of Collective Soul fame, is chock full of songs that could be anyone's favorite: "Back To Good" about the hopelessness of the club scene, the phenomenal "Push" about mental manipulation, and "Hang" about being in a relationship for so long you become settled and don't expect change, but it just might come.

The live show is a marvel to behold. If you weren't a fan going in, you'll be one by the time you leave. To hear their own "Real World" & "Girl Like That", plus flawless versions of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" and the Rolling Stones classic "You Can't Always Get What You Want" left me speechless. And that's not easy to do! That was 6 shows ago and I still get excited at the prospect of seeing them live.

After listening to Yourself Or Someone Like You, I wonder to myself, "How did Rob Thomas get into my head and write what I was feeling, what I was thinking? How did he know?" Run, don't walk and get this release. You won't be disappointed!

Here's my Live From The 10 Spot review:

I was so excited to see this that I couldn't sit down. In fact, I couldn't
sit down during the whole show! I stood right next to the t.v., absorbing
 everything.
The show finally started at 10 PM. My heart was beating rapidly. Then the
camera zoomed in on the guys and I stopped breathing. The first few notes
of "Busted" drifted from the t.v. and hit me like a freight train. I almost
melted. Rob put this thing that looked like a microphone to his lips and
sang, but it came out altered, like it sounds on the CD (I always wondered
 how they achieved that effect).
As they continued to play and perform other songs, I was swept away. I felt
like I was actually there, at that concert, watching them live. It was
amazing. Rob described "Back 2 Good" as a song about how you screw up so
much that it becomes a habit, and "Real World" as the one they just
 finished the video for.
At the end, they did "Long Day", which quickly became the highlight of the
show. A girl in the audience was holding up a sign that read "Kyle I'll
reach my hand down in your pocket anytime". Rob saw it in the beginning of
the first verse and started laughing, I think. He finished the first verse
and chorus and took the sign from the girl. He said "I thought I've seen
everything.." and held it up for everyone to see. Then he flipped it over.
The other side read "Carson is a hottie". So Rob said "Carson, if you're
out there, you're a hottie too". Then he said to Kyle "Kyle, I'd reach my
hand down into your pocket anytime cuz you're a sexy man with the big
guitar" and laughed. He started talking to the audience (about what makes a
good rock show ("you have the lights and.."), how's live in NYC ("with all
the hussle and bussle and trucks..."), and Paul's drums ("yeah, that's good
Paul..")). Then he finally finished "Long Day" and that was the end.
If Live From The 10 Spot is any reflection of what a real concert is like,
then all I can say is this: if you haven't been to a concert before, go
*now*! It is the most amazing experience on earth!! I felt like I had died
and gone to heaven, and I had only watched it on t.v.!
 -Amber

 Hey MBluvas!!
i've never done a review of anything in my life, so bear with me if
it seems silly. i'll be done before you can complain!! i want to review
the LIVE FROM THE TEN SPOT concert. totally awesome concert!! all the
emotion i saw in the concert i went to in las vegas was all in this one.
the guys put on a show that would put anyone to shame. kyle was jammin'
away there in his corner and giving it his all, while brian and adam were
busy jumpin' around the stage and playin' soo good, cuz they know they're
all that. paul in the back (though, we all saw him, right??) was beating
those drums and giving all those deep beats the songs are based from. and
in the front stood rob, doin' his thing and damn well, if i should say so
myself!! he came, he sang, he kicked ass!! my only complaint...they didn't
air HANG and KODY, which, in my opinion, are 2 of the best songs on the CD.
