"Katie!"
Brian and Katie jumped apart.
Holly and Howie stood above them.
"Oh. . . " Katie groaned. She and Brian stood up.
"What are you doing?!" Howie cried.
"I-I-I-I-" Brian stuttered.
"Oh. . . " Katie groaned again.
"What are you thinking?" Holly asked. "What about Brittny?"
"And Nick?"
"You can't tell them about this!" Katie cried. "I-I didn't mean for it to happen!"
"And it won't happen again. Ever." Brian added.
"Why did it happen is the question?" Howie asked.
"I don't know! It just did! We haven't been able to find Brittny and Nick all night, and I guess we were lonely." Katie replied.
"That's no reason to kiss!" Holly cried.
"I know, I know." Brian hung his head.
"Holly, please! Promise me you won't tell anyone." Katie begged.
Holly sighed. "I won't tell anyone, but, only because I don't want to see Brittny hurt. And don't ever let it happen again."
"Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!" Katie threw her arms around Holly.
"You, too, Howie. Promise?" Brian asked.
Howie nodded, solemnly.
"I'm sorry, Katie. . . I didn't mean for that to happen. I shouldn't have let it." Brian said.
"I'm sorry, too." Katie replied.
"We should get going, Bri." Howie said, patting him on the shoulder.
Brian nodded. "All right."
Howie bent down, kissing Holly lightly. "'Night."
"Goodnight."
Brian and Howie began walking down the hall.
As Katie watched them walk away, she couldn't help wishing Brian would stay.
