Justin excused himself from the little reunion that Brian and Alicia were engaged in, claiming he needed a shower. Thoughts were running a mile a minute through his brain, and he wasn’t quite sure how to slow them down. He was in Nick Carter’s body, but how did he get here? Justin sighed as he removed the pants that Nick had been wearing when he fell asleep. ‘No wonder I felt so uncomfortable last night.’ He felt the weight of a wallet in the back pocket, and Justin took it out. He figured it might be the key to some vital information about the body that he now possessed. A driver’s license, insurance card, the usual. There were a lot of pictures, mostly of family, his brother and sisters, his dogs. Displayed most prominently was a picture of Al holding a sign and looking gorgeous. Justin couldn’t help but be envious of Nick for having a girlfriend like her. He threw the pants and the wallet on the floor, and a small clatter was heard. Justin was curious, so he picked up the pants again, and on the floor was the medallion that he had received the night before. “What is this doing here?” he asked aloud. Justin shrugged his new shoulders, and retreated into the hot shower. He kept asking himself how he could possibly have gotten into this predicament. It wasn’t probable; hell, it wasn’t possible. Justin washed Nick’s body and hair quickly and stepped out of the tub. He wrapped a towel around his waist, and sauntered back into the room. Alicia was sitting on the bed, reading the letter that had come with the necklace.
“Hey Nickstar, this is pretty funny. These fans will do just about anything to get your attention, huh?” Alicia said when she heard him enter. She looked up and gulped at the sight of his moist skin and hair, his lower body covered only in a towel.
“Sure will Al.” Justin didn’t know what to do. He saw the way Alicia looked at him—at Nick—with such longing and desire. She was Nick’s girlfriend, and she deserved to be with her boyfriend. Justin felt slightly guilty about Leigh, but there was nothing that he could do about it now. Justin walked closer to the bed, directly in front of Alicia.
‘Nick, why are you doing this to me?’ Al thought. Her body was reacting to him, and she knew that he wasn’t going to go anywhere with this. She plastered a smile to her face, and looked up into his sky blue eyes.
Justin looked down at her and reached out with his hand. He gently caressed her cheek, and then bent down so that their faces were level. He tilted her head up and smiled before capturing her lips with his. No kiss had ever felt so right, even with Leigh. He never wanted it to end, but she pushed him away.
Alicia was thoroughly at a loss. She had no clue what was running through Nick’s mind when he kissed her. It was sensational, but she had to end it. “What was that for?” she asked in a hushed tone, not meeting his eyes.
“I missed you Al.”
Alicia stood up. “I missed you too Star. And about that thing I said last night on the phone, I didn’t mean it the way it came out. Justin Timberlake could never be what you are to me.” She smiled cheekily. “Even if he is hot!” Al walked out of the room to let her best friend get dressed. The kiss had meant friendship and nothing more. The love that she felt was completely one sided.
Justin’s mind was still reeling from the kiss, and the fact that she said his name added to the sensation. It sounded so pure coming from her mouth. A thought hit Justin like a lightning bolt. Nick had been talking about him last night, on the phone to Al. And he had the other medallion, the other letter. “Shit, that’s it!” Justin finally realized that he had unwittingly wished himself into Nick’s body, and from the looks of it, Nick did the same thing. He had to get in touch with him, figure out SOME way to switch back. But how? Justin sat on the bed and began to pull clothes on, thinking the whole time. Something else dawned on him. If Nick was in his body, that meant he was with the guys. Justin leaned over and picked up the phone, poised to dial the first of the guys’ cell phone numbers that came to mind.
Nick lay in bed, Leigh’s head pressed against his chest. He wasn’t quite sure where to go from here. How he got to this point in the first place was a mystery to him. All he knew was that he would have to make the best of it. He gazed down at Leigh, her breath tickling his stomach. Nick was glad that she would be there to help him through this, even if she did think he was Justin.
“Justin?” her soft voice came to him.
“Hmm?”
“I think we had better get up and get dressed. Even though I said I wanted to stay in bed with you, I would like that tour of LA. And I haven’t had a chance to say hi to the others yet.” Leigh picked her body gingerly from his, and pulled her cotton dress back over her head as she stood. Nick watched her move, graceful with everything that she did. Following her lead, Nick began to dress himself as well. When they had finished getting ready and had shared a few more kisses, they walked into JC and Lance’s room.
“Hey guys! Long time no see.” Leigh called to the two of them who were seated in front of the television.
Lance looked up when he heard her voice. “Hey Leighs! Dang girl we missed you!” He hugged her and swung her around a few times before setting her back down.
JC, as well, gave her a massive hug. She laughed and kissed them both on the cheek. Nick stood watching how charming she was with everyone. He caught a glimpse of his reflection again, and it made him jump slightly. He wasn’t sure he would ever get used to that, seeing Justin in the mirror.
They all sat down again, Leigh on Nick’s lap. They began talking about mindless things, the tour, her flight, and her studies. Nick learned that Leigh would be with them for 2 weeks, and then she would be heading back to Orlando.
A phone began to ring on the dresser. JC walked over and picked it up. “Hey this is-” he looked at the sticker on the back “- Lance’s phone, may I ask who is calling?” JC said cheerfully.
“JC?”
“Yep, that would be me, who’s this?” The male voice sounded slightly familiar, but he couldn’t place it.
“This is Just—I mean, hey, this is Nick Carter. I must have gotten the numbers mixed up, I was looking for Justin.” Justin realized that he almost slipped, and was glad for his quick recovery.
JC laughed. “Oh, that’s all right, he’s sitting right here, let me get him for you.” He placed his hand over the mouthpeice. “Hey Justin, you’ll never believe this!”
“What?”
“Dude, Nick Carter is on the phone for you.” Lance and Leigh laughed along with JC, but Nick jumped up quickly, throwing Leigh to the floor in the process. He didn’t apologize, but rather grabbed the phone from JC’s hand and ran back into his room, locking the door behind him. It somewhat clicked now. If he was in Justin’s body, that must mean…
“Justin?” Nick said timidly into the phone.
“Nick?” Justin replied.
“Yeah, it’s me. Do you have any idea what is going on?”
