04-24-99 Thor is in Damascus, Virginia. He will be staying until Monday the 26th and is 6 days behind schedule. He is staying at "The Place" hostile which is run by a local church in Damascus and has to pay $2.00 per night to stay!
04-30-99 Thor is at Fox Hill Inn (click on Fox Hill to go to their web site) in Troutdale, Virginia. In the past week he ran into some rainstorms, then the rain storms turned into snow. His parents are leaving tomorrow to visit with him next wednesday. Thor has been taking pictures and I hope he sends the film back with them so I can share them with everyone.
05-03-99 Thor is at Atkins Virginia. He plans on hiking 12 miles tomorrow and meeting his parents on wednesday. He is doing great and said to thank everyone for sending all the mail to him, he really appreciated it.
05-09-99 I just talked to Thor thismorning. He hiked 26 miles yesterday and had to cross the same river 12 times. It has been raining a little but weather for the most part has been really good. His location is between Crandon and Pearisburg in Virginia. He plans on reaching Pearisburg tomorrow. Also I should have more pictures around the 17th.
05-14-99 Thor is in Newport Virginia. He actually ran into some problems using his smaller backpack. He had problems with it leaking and everything got soaked. He had to sleep with a soakedsleeping bag and all clothes were wet. He went back to Pearisburgh and rented a hotel room and also went to an outfitters store and bought a new pack. He will get a ride to Newport today and continue where he left off.
05-18-99 Thor made it to Troutville, VA (Daleville, Va on the map). Everything is going great, I have added some more pictures today for everyone to look at. To listen to Thor's message click here! To date Thor has traveled 710 miles.
05-25-99 Thor is approximatly at Lynchburg, Va. I have not spoken with him, just was relayed a message from his parents. He is expexted to call me I should hear from him by friday as he expects to be in Waynesboro,VA.
05-28-99 Thor is in Waynesboro Virginia. I have not talked to him but expect to hear from him this weekend. He is at the half way mark for the trail as far as time goes, and 100 miles short as far as distance goes.
