When I woke up the next morning, Brian and Hayley were walking into the bedroom, a tray in Brian's hand and a little box in Hayley's.
"Morning," Brian said cheerfully, setting the tray down on a table.
"Good morning," I yawned and sat up.
"Come on Hayley," Brian said lifting Hayley up and gently setting her on the bed. She crawled up next to me and sat, patiently waiting for something. Brian came and sat down next to me.
"Go ahead Hayley. Hand Mommy her present," he told her. I looked confused at him and then down at Hayley.
"Mommy," she told me holding up a tiny black velvet box. I smiled as I took it and slowly opened it. A beautiful diamond cut ring sat, just calling my name.
"I wouldve given it to you last night, but I had here at the house," he told me smiling.
"I love you!" I said wrapping my arms around his neck.
"You like?" Hayley asked smiling up at me.
"Yes, Mommy likes it a lot," I told her, pulling her into a hug.
"Let me put it on you," he whispered to me. I nodded and handed him the box. He took the ring out and took my left hand and slowly slipped it on my ring finger. It made a perfect fit.
"You are the world to me," he whispered.
"You're amazing Brian," I said looking into his eyes.
"Now, go get a shower. When you get out, there's fruit on the table. You have to get ready for work," he told me.
"Ok," I smiled and crawled out of bed.
"Mommy bath?" Hayley asked.
"Yep," I nodded.
"Me?" she asked.
"Yeah, come on," I smiled.
Hayley and I took a shower and got washed up. I put her cutest outfit on her and I got into uniform.
"We're going to be recording today, but I'll try to sneak away to come see you on your lunch break, ok?" Brian asked as he walked Hayley out to my truck.
"Ok," I smiled as I finished buckling her into her car seat.
"Be careful," he told me, almost in a whisper.
"I will,I love you," I told him.
"I love you too," he said smiling. He pulled me close and pressed his lips to mine.
"I'll try to come see you," he told me when we pulled away.
"Ok."
I got into my truck and turned it on and I was off to work. I walked into the diner, just in time.
"Hey honey!" Tammy exclaimed.
"Hey!" I said smiling.
"Hey Hayley," she said tickling Hayley.
"Hi," she said shyly.
"I love that girl," she told me.
"I know, me too," I laughed.
"Come on Hay Hay," I said leading her to a booth. She sat down and I pulled out her crayons and coloring book.
"Go ahead and color," I told her.
"Ok," she nodded and began to color.
"Hey, sorry Im late," Billy said from behind me. I jumped, "Jeez, you scared me," I laughed.
"Sorry," he smiled weakly.
"How ya feeling?" I asked.
"Good actually. I just need to sit down," he told me.
"Hayley honey, this is your daddy. He's gonna sit with you, ok?" I asked. She looked up and saw him sitting down across from her.
"Ok?" she asked, looking concerned.
"Yeah, Im ok," he smiled.
"Color," she told him handing him a coloring book.
"Ok," he smiled.
"Do you want anything to drink?" I asked.
"Coke?" he asked.
"I'll be right back," I told him.
"Ok," he nodded.
"Do you want anything Hayley?" I asked.
"Taco," she told me casually. I giggled and looked at Billy.
"What did she say?" he asked confused.
"Taco," I told him.
"Mommy will get you a taco later," I told her brushing her hair out of her eyes.
"Ok," she nodded.
I walked off to get Billy a coke. When I returned I set it down in front of him.
"What's that?" he asked pointing to my ring.
"A ring," I told him.
"Are you and that guy engaged?" he asked looking up at me.
"Yeah," I answered softly.
"Oh," he said and looked back at Hayley.
I walked off to start serving customers.
By the end of the day, I was exhausted and the only thing I wanted to do was go home and take a long hot bath.
"My shift's over," I told Billy.
"Oh, ok, um, can we do this again tomorrow?" he asked.
"Uh, yeah, that should be ok," I nodded.
"Ok, good. Thank you so much MacKenzie," he said smiling.
"You're welcome," I whispered.
"Come o Hay Hay, let's go honey," I said picking up her stuff.
Hayley got up and the three of us walked out of the diner together.
"MacKenzie!" I heard Brian call, running up to me.
"Brian! You didnt come by today," I told him.
"Im sorry. We were really working hard on the album and before I knew it, you would be off work, so I left right then to come catch you. I want to take you and Hayley out to dinner," he said smiling.
"Ok," I smiled, losing myself in his eyes.
"Ahem," I heard Billy cough.
I turned and saw him looking at the two us, "I think Im gonna go now."
"Oh, ok. Um, Billy this is Brian, my fiancee, Brian, Billy," I introduced the two.
"You're a lucky guy," Billy told Brian, after shaking his hand.
"I know," Brian replied. I smiled.
"Well Hay Hay, you wanna go out to dinner?" I asked Hayley.
She nodded and climbed into her car seat in the truck. I smiled.
"What do you want to eat?" I asked.
"Taco," her and Brian said at the same time. I looked at Brian and laughed.
"Don Pablos it is," he laughed.
"I'll follow you," I told him.
"Well, let's drop the truck off at home. I gotta get something at the house anyway," he told me.
"Ok, what do you need?" I asked.
"A change of clothes," he laughed.
"Oh, me too," I giggled, looking down at my uniform.
"I'll meet you at the house," he said kissing my cheek.
"Bye bye Hay Hay," he said waving to Hayley.
"Bye bye," she waved back.
"Bye Billy," I told Billy as I climbed into my truck.
"See you tomorrow," he mumbled and walked to his car.
I followed Brian home, but it wasnt long before we were at the restaurant.
"Are you Brian from the Backstreet Boys?" asked a girl about ten years old, coming up to our table.
"Yeah," Brian smiled down at her.
"Oh my G-D! Can I have your autograph?" she gushed.
"Sure," he said reaching to the pen and paper napkin in her hand.
He signed the napkin and gave it back to her, smiling.
"I love you so much," she told him, moving quickly from one foot to the other.
"Who's that?" she asked, glaring at me. The poor girl was going to be broken hearted if she knew that I was Brian's girlfriend...er...fiancee.
"Im a cousin of Brian's," I told her sweetly. Brian looked at me gratefully.
"Oh, you are so lucky you are related to him," she told me.
"Oh, ok," I smiled.
"Bye," she waved and walked off.
"Bye."
I looked at Brian and shrugged.
"That girl wouldve been heart broken if she knew my heart belonged to you," he whispered to me.
"What did I do to deserve you?" I asked him, looking into his eyes.
