Chapter Two

*Friday Morning*

"Why are you pacing around?" Brian asked Kirsten as she watched the phone nervously.

"No reason."

"You've been acting really strange lately, tell me what's going on." Kirsten looked deep into his eyes, her stomach twisted with guilt.

"Nothing is going on, baby, I'm just excited."

"Why are you excited?"

"Because in a few months we'll be spending the rest of our lives together as Mr. and Mrs. Littrell."

"And so you're anxious?"

"Yep. Anxious."

"Me too baby." Brian wrapped his arms around Kirsten's waist and pulled her into a warm embrace. He pressed his lips against hers passionately and then the phone rang.

"Let the machine get it," Brian murmured through her lips.

"It could be important," she kissed him quickly and rushed to the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Ms. Johnson?"

"Yes..."

"This is Nurse Baker from the General Hospital, do you remember asking for the conception date earlier this week?"

"Yes, I do."

"Well, the conception date was May the 10th."

Kirsten struggled to keep her tears in.

"All right, thanks."

She hung up and suddenly got dizzy. She started to fall but braced herself on the counter.

"Kirsten!" Brian rushed to her and helped her to the couch.

"I'm fine, Brian... really."

"Well, lie here and rest, I don't want you to faint."

Kirsten laid quietly and soon felt Brian kiss her forehead gently, and then him scribbled something on to a piece of paper. She opened her eyes briefly to see that he placed the piece of paper on the coffee table next to her, and then headed out the door.

Kirsten rolled over groggily and read the note, "I went to get dinner for you, food will make you feel better."

Kirsten smiled at Brian's thoughfulness.

She then slowly made her way over to the cordless phone and dialed MacKenzie's number.

"Hello?"

"Mac?"

"Kirsten, did you get the results?"

Kirsten sniffled a reply and collapsed on the floor in tears.

"The baby's AJ's?" MacKenzie whispered.

Kirsten choked back tears, "Yes, I'm so sorry."

"Sh... I had a feeling so I came up with a plan."

"What is it?" Kirsten sobbed.

"I'll tell you tomorrow. The guys have that recording thing this weekend so we'll have time to figure out what to do."

"Why can't you tell me the plan now?"

"Because... all I'll tell you is to spend tonight with Brian and make it special, pretend as if you're never going to see him after this night."

"Will I?"

"We've gotta do what's best for everyone." MacKenzie whispered and hung her handset on the cradle.

Kirsten hung up her phone and stumbled back to the couch in a fit of sobs. Soon, she fell asleep.

A little while later, Brian returned, two bags of Taco Bell in hand. (kirsten's fav.)

"baby, thank you so much!" kirsten kissed him softly.

"I should bring Taco Bell home more often," Brian chuckled.

The couple laid on floor eating their taco bell and chatting like they did when they first started dating.

"I miss this."

"What?"

"Just talking," Kirsten smiled, "Remember when we used to lie in bed and hold each other and just talk?"

Kirsten nodded, "wanna do that tonight?"

Brian nodded and kissed his fiancee's lips. They went to the bedroom and changed into their pajamas. They got in bed and Brian wrapped his arms around Kirsten.

They began to talk about their future and Kirsten cringed when she thought about the fact that they may not even have a future.

"Do you have any idea how much I love you?" Brian asked.

"Hopefully an ounce of how much I love you."

Brian tightened his grip around her and kissed the top of her head, "Nothing will ever come between us." he promised.

'If you only knew...' Kirsten thought to herself.
