Chapter Three

*The next morning*

"I'll see you tomorrow night," Brian whispered kissing Kirsten good-bye.

Kirsten kissed back as if it were the last time her lips would ever touch Brian's. Tears weld up in her eyes and she closed the door.

She laid in bed for another hour, her head pounding and her heart aching when the doorbell rang.

"Hey," She greeted MacKenzie.

"You look like crap."

"Thanks," Kirsten said sarcastically.

"Sorry."

"Come in, sit down."

"We're leaving Tampa." MacKenzie stated opening a cupboard in search of something for lunch.

"We're what?"

"You heard me the first time."

"Who's we?"

"You, me and the baby."

"What about Brian and AJ?"

"Kirsten, look at it this way. If the press found about you and AJ, it could very well kill their career, not to mention what the baby will have to go through, not to mention what you and I will go through. If we get out now, make a clean break, start over, we'll be able to raise the baby and make a new life for ourselves."

"Does anyone else know?"

"I told Nick."

"Brian's his best friend!"

"He won't tell."

Kirsten sighed. "When do we leave? Where are we going?"

"Tonight, Maine."

"Maine? Tonight?"

"Yup."

"What's in Maine?"

"Our apartment."

"Oh God Mackenzie."

MacKenzie went over to Kirsten and gave her a warm hug. "Everything will turn out okay, I promise."

*Sunday afternoon*

"I'm so excited we're going to get home early," Brian told AJ.

"Me too, I missed MacKenzie."

"You wouldn't believe how much I've missed Kirsten."

"Well, maybe the four of us can go out sometime this weekend, we haven't done that in awhile."

"That sounds good, I'll talk to Kirsten, she hasn't been feeling well lately."

"Tell her I hope she gets feeling better," AJ said as the limo stopped in front of Brian's house.

"Will do, see ya man."

Brian walked up the walkway to his front door and inserted the key.

"I'm home baby." He called walking through the doorway. The house was silent. He walked into their room and it too was quiet. "Baby?"

He opened the closet door and her side was completely bare. He felt his face flush he opened all her drawers, they too were empty.

"NOOOOO." He screeched as he fell to the floor in sobs. "Where are you?" He screamed clutching the bedspread.

He could hardly breath, tears streaming down his face he got in the car and headed to AJ's.

Brian had calmed down considerably by the time he reached AJ's. He was angry and bitter.

He pounded on AJ's door until he saw a grieve-stricken AJ open it frantically.

"I thought you were..." He whispered.

"MacKenzie too?"

"What do you mean?"

"I went home and...and..." He punched his fist against the wall.

"She was gone?" AJ asked.

Brian nodded struggling to keep his sadness in.

"Maybe they're together." AJ said.

"But, why? Why did she leave me?" Brian broke down once more at AJ's feet sobbing like a child.

AJ was mute. The pain he felt he could not show like Brian. He just didn't feel anything. He felt numb. Cold.
