"Micki!" Micki heard calling from down the hall. She turned around to see AJ running towards her. She smiled as she began to hope that he was going to tell her that he loved her. AJ looked handsome in his suit.
"I can't believe someone could look so gorgeous," AJ said looking Micki over. Micki smiled and looked down at her fingers.
"Thanks," Micki said softly.
"You make a beautiful bride," AJ said, his voice shaky.
"Thank you AJ," Micki said tears forming in her eyes.
"Micki let's go, it's time," her father said appearing.
"Ok, I'll be right down," Micki said hinting that she wanted to be alone with AJ for a second. Her father disappeared once again and she looked at AJ.
"I guess I'll see you down there," AJ said kissing her cheek and running downstairs.
Micki took her time walking down the stairs, noticing the little things, like pictures of her and her sister that decorated the whole wall down the stairwell. She noticed the little things that made this place home.
Micki stopped at one picture on the way, it was one of her whole family, when he parents were married. She couldn't understand why her mother still had that one hung up, after the divorce and everything. She almost began to cry, but touched the picture softly and continued walking.
She reached the bottom of the steps and looked around. Everyone had already walked out and her father smiled at her as she put her arm into his and took a deep breath. Different music began and Micki and her father began to walk down the aisle. Micki looked around nervously. People were standing and she smiled at them all. She admired all the lavender flowers that decorated everything. She took in the sweet scent of the garden. She looked up the aisle, Matt looked more nervous than she did. She looked over further into the yard and saw were the reception was set up. Streamers, balloons, flowers, tables, food, all decorated the patio and the bar was set with plenty of alcohol for everyone.
She reached the end of the aisle and turned to her father. He lifted her veil and kissed her, than gave her arm to Matt. She smiled as her father stood there.
"Who is giving this young woman for marriage?" asked the priest.
"Her mother and I sir," her father said, then sitting down. Micki looked at Matt nervously. Is this what she wanted. She looked into Matt's eyes and saw everything. She realized that she did loved him and that he could give her as much as AJ could, if not more.
Before Micki knew it, the priest was asking the inevitable question.
"Do you Matthew Walker take Michelle Daniels for you lawful wedded wife, to love and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, as long as you both shall live?" the priest asked looking at Matt.
Matt took a deep breath and looked at Micki. He then looked at the priest and then back to Micki. Micki looked at him, waiting for him to say "I do". But he didn't. He was silent, for a good minute.
"Mattew?" the priest asked.
"I can't," Matt said looking right into Micki's eyes. Micki looked at him shocked. Her eyes began to water. How could he embarrass her like that? How could he just say he cant? Micki started trembling.
"What?!" she cried.
"Micki, Im sorry, but I cant. I love someone else," he told her.
"You couldn't tell me this before we were at the alter?" Micki yelled, tears streaming down her face.
"Im sorry," he said softly.
Micki slapped Matt across the face as hard as she could. She ran off, tears blinding her. She ran to a hidden part of the yard, where a little pond was, she sat on the bench in front of the pond and cried.
"Micki," she heard a raspy male voice, she recognized as AJ's.
She sniffed and felt an arm around her. She leaned onto AJ and cried.
"How could he do this to me?" Micki said softly because her throat hurt from crying.
"I dont know why anyone would want to hurt you," AJ said rubbing her arm. She closed her eyes and fell asleep in AJ's arms.
