Chapter One

"Micki! Hurry up, we're gonna be late!" I shouted to my best friend, as we sprinted through the airport.

"Megan, Trust me. Their flights are always late!" Micki called. I didn't listen, I just kept dodging people until I reached Gate 16. Micki stopped beside me, totally out of breath.

No one was coming out of the gate, I seen a lady who worked their. "Excuse me, Miss," I began, panting "is the flight from LA late?"

"Yes, ma'am. It should be here in about ten minutes," she replied.

"Oh, thank you," I said.

Micki laughed under her breath, "Told ya."

I ignored her comment and went over to the huge window and watched the planes land and depart. I was sooo excited. I was about to see five of my greatest friends: Howie, Kevin, Brian, AJ, and Nick. You may know them as the Backstreet Boys, but I just know them as the guys. I hadn't seen them in two years, courtesy of me going to an out of state college. We'd kept in touch, a little. But, they had no idea I would be here for my summer vacation. And, here I am!

I went and sat down next to Micki, who was patiently reading a Cosmopolitan. How could she be so calm? I guess it was because she saw them all the time. I sat quietly observing people... a crying baby, a woman yelling into her cell phone, and a man muttering profanities under his breath. I was so amused by this until I looked up and saw people beginning to filter out of Gate 16.

I jumped up and stood by the gate. I adjusted my black dress pants, red tank top, and made sure my black boots were tied. Check. Check. Check. I was ready.

The first one I saw was Kevin. He looked better than ever! I got even more excited, "Kev!" I shrieked. I ran and gave him a hug.

"Megan! Man, look at you. You've grown," Kevin greeted.

"You too. How are you?" I gushed.

"Great, thanks. The other guys will be so glad to see you," Kevin replied, "My stuff is so heavy, so I'm gonna go put it next to Mick."

I nodded and saw Brian and Howie walking out of the tunnel. They both saw me and began whispering to one another.

"Megan?" Brian asked, as the two stopped in front of me.

"Hey you guys!" I hugged each of them and smiled, "I missed you guys so much."

"We missed you too. What brings you back? Already been kicked out of college?" Howie asked.

"Just thought I'd visit. I miss it here so much! No summer can compare to a Florida summer, " I explained.

"Megan!" called another voice. It was AJ (AKA: Micki's boyfriend.)

"Hey!" I said. He gave me a kiss on the cheek, "It is so good to see you."

"It's great to be here." I replied, smiling.

"Nick is going to be so happy to see you, "AJ said. (Nick and I have known each other for countless years.)

"I'm looking forward to seeing him too, " I responded.

"He's on his way," Brian stated, "We should go stand by Micki and see if he notices you. I mean, you've changed a lot."

"Yeah, okay." I agreed. The three of them walked over to Micki, and began chatting, while I stood by the gate.

Nick was the last one off the plane. He walked slowly down the tunnel. He looked tired and frustrated about something. He walked right past me and took a seat next to Micki. I stood there, in shock, that he didn't notice me! Micki looked from me to him and tried not to laugh.

"So much for my 'grand entrance,'" I muttered, walking over to the group.

Nick's face lit up, "Megan!" he shouted. He picked me up and twirled me around. When he put me down, I giggled.

"Took ya long enough," I laughed.

"Sorry, " Nick apologized, "You just look so different."

I rolled my eyes, "I don't see how everyone thinks so." The only thing that was different about me was I had light blonde highlights in my already blonde hair. Otherwise, I looked the same.

Nick took a few steps away from me, "Wow! You look great."

"You too," I said, embarrassed.

"Why didn't you tell us you'd be here?" Nick asked.

"I wanted it to be a surprise," I whispered.

He smiled at me, "It's great seeing you again, " he gave me a playful punch on the arm and the seven of us walked to the waiting limo.

We dropped all the guys off at their houses until only Micki, Nick, and I remained. (We were all going to Nick's to get Micki's car.) We rose to his house and I looked around, amazed. Not a thing had changed. I hopped out of the limo and waited impatiently as Nick unlocked the door.

"You guys, I'm gonna go. I have a major headache, "Micki called, from her car.

"Oh, k Micks. See ya later!" I waved. Nick said good bye, while I looked around his living room. I picked up a picture of him and I and smiled. It was a picture of us together two weeks before I left. Nick was 'pretending' to body slam me.

"I can still kick your butt, "Nick laughed, coming up behind me, focusing on the picture too.

I began to laugh, "I dunno, I've been working out," I flexed my nonexistent arm muscle.

"That puny thing?" Nick asked, raising his eyebrows.

"Ugh! Not puny!" I whined, I raised my shirt up so only part of my stomach shown.

Nick nodded, "All right, I'll give you that much credit. You have a toned stomach, but you've had one of those for a while."

I rolled my eyes, "I'm lucky I kept it," I muttered, "School is so intense. I never have time to work out or eat it seems. And I have four more years at Yale."

"Tough?" Nick asked, heaving himself on the couch.

I sat down in the recliner, "Yeah."

Nick sat up, "I have an idea!"

I looked up at him, "What?"

"Transfer to a Florida school. I know you miss it here," Nick suggested.

I smiled at him, "I can't do that."

Nick looked hurt, "Why not?" he questioned.

"Nick," I began, "I got excepted to one of the best universities in America, I'm getting a terrific education. I can't leave that."

"Yeah, I know. But it'd be nice if you could come back. I miss you a lot, " Nick said, "And it sounds like you don't like it there."

"I don't. I hate it. As soon as I graduate, I'm moving back. But my education and Daniel are the only things keeping me there, " I explained.

"Daniel?" Nick asked.

I bit my lip, " Yeah, It was gonna be like a surprise meeting. He's coming down for the last half of the summer. Right now he's in South Dakota, where he was raised."

"South Dakota?" Nick mumbled, "Well, who is he?"

"My boyfriend, "I whispered, quickly.

"Meeting him was going to be a surprise? Thanks, I've always wanted one of those, " Nick snapped.

"Oh, come on, Nick! You're supposed to be my best friend! Don't you want to meet my current 'significant other?' Approve of him?" I asked.

"Approve of him?" Nick whined, "I can tell you now, I don't approve of him. Or like him."

It was my turn to whine, "Niiiick!"

Nick glared at me and got up, "I'm going to lay down."
