Chapter Two

I sighed as I heard Nick's footsteps stomp up the stairs. "What did I do?" I muttered. I've known Nick long enough to know that he can't stay mad at me, and I can't stay mad at him. So, momentarily, he'd come back downstairs and give me the silent treatment for a few minutes, and then everything will be fine.

In the meantime, I went into his kitchen and tried to find something good to eat. Of course, I didn't have much luck. I mean, he'd been on tour for months. Yup, when you see moldy cheese in the refrigerator you know it's time for some grocery shopping, I should remind him of that. I did find a magnet with the number to Hungry Howie's on it. That would do. I don't like pizza, but he does, and the place sells salads, so, it will do.

I called the place and ordered a large cheese pizza (for Nick) and a small Caesar salad (for me). And, they told me it would be here in about thirty minutes. Nick should be talking to me by then.

What did I tell you? No sooner than I walked back into the living room, I saw Nick walking down the stairs.

"Mornin sunshine," I joked. No answer. "You know you're gonna end up talking to me, so why not make it sooner than later?"

Nick looked at me and gave me the meanest look. He walked into the kitchen and looked around, searching for some food. He opened the refrigerator and made a face.

I laughed, "When you start talking to me again, maybe we can to the grocery. And, I ordered pizza, it's on the way. My treat."

"But you don't like pizza, " Nick spoke.

"Ha!" I shouted, "Told ya you'd talk to me. I ordered a salad."

Nick sighed, "Oh."

"Mind telling me why you have this sudden hatred to my boyfriend that you've never met?" I asked him.

"I was just caught off guard. And I don't want to see you hurt again." Nick whispered.

"Nick, that was a long time ago. And, I'm just dating Daniel, nothing serious ... yet." I replied.

"Yet." Nick mumbled.

I glanced over at him. He was stirring his soda with his straw. I wasn't exactly happy with his answer. The doorbell rang. "I'll get it." I got up and opened the door and the pizza guy was standing there, impatiently.

"It'll be $21.44." he responded, with absolutely no pep.

I handed him the money, took the pizza and walked back inside. Nick dove into the pizza and I ate my leafy salad. My cell phone rang and I answered it.

"Hello." I waited for a second for someone to reply, "Oh, hey Daniel!" I glanced over at Nick, he put his pizza down and stared at it angrily. "Oh, already? Wow."... "Okay, see you then. Bye."

"Uh... Nick?" I said, slowly.

"What?" he asked, like he knew what I was going to say.

"He's coming in early." I responded.

"Oh... great." he muttered.

"Ugh. Nick. Come on! What's wrong with you?" I shouted.

"Nothing." he snapped.

"Can you take me to Micki's? I'm staying with her." I ordered, more than asked.

He grabbed his car keys and we stomped off towards his car.
