Chapter Eight

Complete and utter bliss, that's how I felt right now. I had just got back from my night out with Brian. It marked our month anniversary. The night was beyond perfect perfection itself. Maybe I should explain...

"Hello." I answered the ringing phone, as I sipped my cappuccino.

"Hey babe. Wanna go out tonight?" It was Brian. I loved answering the phone and his voice being on the other end.

"Um, let me check my schedule." I joked.

Brian laughed, "I'll be there in forty-five minutes."

"Okay. See ya then." I said, and hung up the phone. I had already had a shower so I quickly went and searched my closet for something to wear.

The phone rang and I grumbled and rushed to answer it.

"Formal." Click. It was Brian again, and obviously, he just wanted to get to the point.

I smiled and once again, put the phone back on it's cradle. I looked for something formal and decided what I wanted to wear. I put on my royal blue tube top (It accented my eyes), a short black skirt, and black heels. I put on my makeup and pulled my straight blonde hair up into a twist bun.

I stepped back to look in the mirror, not so bad.

My doorbell rang and I ran to answer it, and Brian stood on my doorstep, wearing a tuxedo and a bright smile. He took my hand and kissed it and handed me a white rose.

"Come on." he whispered. I grabbed my purse and locked my doors, and walked hand and hand out to the... limo. Where I had been expecting Brian's BMW was an elegant, white, stretch limo. The driver opened the door for us and we got comfortable.

"What's the occasion? Limos, a tux, there's got to be some sort of catch." I said.

Brian looked offended, "No catch."

I smiled at him, "Where to?"

"You'll see when we get there." Brian replied, pouring himself a small glass of champagne, and he also poured me a glass too.

I sipped it slowly, letting it's sweet taste control my senses.

"So, what did you find out about AJ and Melissa at the party? Melissa didn't really talk about it." I asked.

"Nothing, then. Like I said, he's a second date kinda guy, and he proved that point once again with Melissa." Brian answered, "But I don't want to talk about our friends. It's our night."

I smiled at that. The limo drove on and on and finally stopped, and we were helped out of the car and I looked around. The woods we had been in the first "date" we went on.

"Brian, I can't hike in these heels." I complained.

"There's a path. It just takes longer. We'll go that way. It's smooth." Brian said.

I nodded and followed him towards the dark woods. Here it was pitch dark, and we were walking into the woods with only the moonlight. Why did we need to dress formal for this? Was it just a romantic gesture?

Brian took my hand and we walked hand and hand for about 10 minutes, before coming to a clearing.

The clearing was beautiful. A clear, deep stream flowed on the edge, and brightly colored flowers outlined the sides of the stream. The grass was somewhat high(not really, just higher than an average yard), except in one spot, where there was packed dirt, and a satin blanket spread out there.

"It's gorgeous." I declared.

"This is my secret place. Where I come to get away from everything. You're the first person that's ever come here with me. I found it one day when I was hiking." Brian said.

I hugged him and he led me to the blanket. I sat down carefully(I was wearing a skirt) and listened to the steady rhythm of the stream.

Brian laid down and I laid down next to him. He put his arms around me and the two of us stared up at the starry sky. Brian pointed up towards the sky, "See that star, the one that's blinking?" I nodded.

"That's our star. I saw it the night I first met you, and I seen it tonight. It's sign."

I smiled, "Okay. That's our star," I echoed.

"I love you." Brian said, kissing my neck, slightly.

Chills went down my spine, "I love you too."
