“I can’t believe he said that!” I exclaimed to Howie. I was sitting on my bunk in the bus. Howie was right in front of me rubbing my back as I buried my head in my hands.
“Micki, you dont need someone who treats you like that,” Howie whispered.
“He doesnt usually treat me like that,” I said, defending him. I dont know why I was defending him. I was so pissed off at him.
“Micki, he treats you like his little sex toy. If that’s what you consider him treating you good, then, well, I dont know,” Howie said, he stopped rubbing my back. I looked up at him and saw the concern in his eyes.
“I dont know Howie,” I whined.
“Hey, what are you guys doing on the bus?” Kevin asked getting on.
“Nothing,” Howie shrugged.
Kevin saw my bright red face and tear-stained face.
“What happened?” he asked, rushing to my side.
“Nothing, just AJ is being a real jerk,” I rolled my eyes.
“Micki, we need to talk,” AJ said getting on the bus.
“What is there to talk about? Im not your girlfriend,” I growled.
“I didnt say you werent,” he defended.
“Oh, Kevin Im his ‘kinda’ girlfriend. Isnt that peachy?” I said looking at Kevin.
“What happened?” Kevin asked, still confused.
“Come on Micki, let’s talk. Come with me,” AJ said, getting frustrated. I took a deep breath and got up.
Just as we were walking off the bus, everyone started coming on.
“We’ve got to hit the road,” the bus driver announced.
AJ sighed in exasperation.
“I just need to be alone,” I said walking back to my bunk. I crawled into my bunk and looked at Howie who was laying in his bunk, across from the one AJ and I were supposed to share.
“You ok?” he asked.
“No,” I said, more tears falling, onto my pillow.
“Come on, let’s go to the back room. We’ll talk there,” Howie said getting up. I followed him and we both sat down on the black leather couch.
“Come here, it’s ok,” he said, putting his arm around me. I cried onto his shoulder. I dont know why I was crying so much, but it did hurt.
I didnt even realize it, but it wasnt long before I was just sniffling and then I fell asleep on his shoulder.
I started to stir when I heard a cell phone ring.
“Answer it for me,” Howie whispered. I was half asleep, but I could comprehend what was going on, even though my eyes were still shut.
“Hello?” Nick answered.
“Heather man,” Nick told him.
“Tell her Im busy. I’ll talk to her later,” he said. I smiled to myself and nudged myself closer to Howie and fell back asleep.
The next morning, we were in a completely different city and a completely different state. It was 12:30 and the guys had to go for a sound check in thirty minutes.
“Ok, now that we are at the arena, boys you know where you have to go. The stage is already set up and everything, the other bus got here quite a few hours earlier, considering they didnt go out clubbin’, so dancers, while the boys do a sound check, you will be preparing for tonight, touching up on any dances, etc. Ok, go to it,” their manager announced.
“Great, let’s go,” AJ said walking past me and caught up with Lupe and Rosa who were already walking ahead of everyone.
I took a deep breath, at least I didnt have to dance with him.
“Hey, you feel better?” Howie asked coming up next to me.
“Yeah, much better, thanks Howie,” I smiled, admiring his chocolate eyes.
“Anything for you,” he said shyly. I smiled, knowing my cheeks were turning pink.
“Come on Howie!” Nick called from ahead of us.
“I gotta go,” he said and ran off. I smiled as I watched him run up to Nick. I know exactly what I want. *That Night*
The boys had just finished up their show. Us dancers had already run off the stage and the boys were right behind us. I hadnt talked to AJ all day, goes to show how mature the both of us really are.
I took a shower and changed into Tommy shorts and a red tank top. I was brushing my hair as I entered the dressing room. AJ had just gotten out of the shower as well. He walked right by me, and didnt even look at me.
“That’s mature,” I said loud enough for him to hear. He ignored me and kept walking. I dont understand why he is so pissed at me, Im not the one that... grr... nevermind, this is way too frustrating.
“You and AJ still not talking?” Howie asked.
“Nope,” I rolled my eyes.
“We perform tomorrow night in Orlando,” Howie told me.
“We’re already going back to Tampa?” I asked confused, knowing there were at least two months more of the tour.
“We’re doing a benefit concert,” he told me.
“Oh, that’s cool,” I said smiling.
“Micki we need to talk,” AJ said bitterly walking up to me.
“Ok,” I said, my heart pumping to the max.
“Alone,” he said narrowing his eyes at Howie.
“Ok,” I said following him. We walked out of the arena, we could hear fans screaming and talking in excitement about what they liked best in the concert. We were walking through the parking garage. AJ had a hat on and was walking with his head down, in hopes of a fan not recognizing him.
“So,” I said, trying to get him to start up the conversation.
“Im sorry about what I did,” he said stopping. He looked into my eyes and I could tell he really was sorry.
“It just,” he continued, “we rushed into this, you know? I mean, we had sex the first night we went out.”
“I know, I would never do that before,” I said, feeling a little ashamed.
“Me either and I dont know. I just had this strong sexual attraction for you, and believe me, I still do,” he said.
“Please, let’s just see if we can make this work,” I said, my eyes pleading.
“I dont know Micki,” he said.
“AJ, please,” I said frowning.
I started to think about Howie. He has Heather, I cant think about him.
“We’ll put ourselves in a trial relationship. If it works, it works, if not, well, it doesnt,” he said.
“Ok,” I whispered. We finished walking to the bus and got on. I didnt say a single word to anyone, just went straight to my bunk.
