Chapter One

I caught my breath after I ran off the stage in front of thousands of screaming fans. I felt on top of the world.

"Hey you did great," my manager said coming up to me.

"Thanks," I said, taking a swallow of my water.

"See you later!" I said and ran off.

"Marissa! Get back here!" he yelled after me. I ignored him and kept running. He knew exactly what I was doing. I wanted to see some fans!

"Come on Bobby!" I said, grabbing my bodyguard's arm.

He chuckled and followed me outside. There were hundreds of fans surrouding the opening. Their screams got a hundred times louder as they all saw me. Now, I really felt on top of the world. A huge smile spread across my face as I waved.

I walked up to the gate that held the fans back.

"Hey!" I exclaimed.

"Marissa! Can I have your autograph?" a girl asked shoving a book and pen at me. I took the pen and signed my name and handed it back to the girl.

"Did you guys like the show?" I asked.

"Yeah!" they all screamed.

"Good!" I said smiling.

"Will you take a picture with us?" asked a girl, about thirteen years old.

"Sure!" I said smiling. She handed the camera to Bobby and smiled. Bobby backed away to take the picture. I put my arm around the girl and put on my best smile. Suddenly there was a camera, practically in our face.

We were making one of those home videos.

"Time to go Marissa," Bobby announced.

"Ok," I nodded.

"Bye everyone!" I said and waved to the crowd. Bobby and I rushed off to the awaiting bus.

"You're too crazy," one of my dancers, Leslie, commented.

"Why?" I asked grinning.

"You're going to get killed one day," she said as she painted her toenails.

"No, I wont," I laughed.

"You got to be more careful," she told me.

"Nah, they're harmless," I defended.

"Get in the shower!" my manager scolded me.

I jumped and looked at him shocked.

"What's the rush?" I asked hurt.

"Marissa! You've got to be up early for photo shoots and you've got the Nickalodeon thing tomorrow afternoon," he told me.

"Oh yeah!" I exclaimed.

"Well, I'll shower at the hotel," I told him.

"You just better get some sleep tonight," he ordered.

"Im not a little kid, I'll go to bed when I feel," I growled and walked off.

Sometimes, I got so tired of everything, my manager walking around talking as if I was 10 years old. I couldnt do normal things half the time and it was so frustrating. But, then I go on stage and I look at all my fans and conclude that it's worth every minute.

"Your mom's on the phone," Bobby said shoving the cell phone at me.

"Thanks Bobby!" I said and brought the phone to my ear.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hey sweetheart, how was the show?" she asked.

"It was so great Mom! How are you doing?" I asked.

"Fine. You're going to be in Orlando tomorrow, right?" she asked.

"Yeah."

"Good, your father and I will drive out there then."

"Good, Im so excited to see you guys."

"We've been waiting to see you in person and not on tv."

"Mom."

"What?"

"I love what I do."

"I know you do and we're so proud of you."

"You are?"

"You know we are sweetheart. You made a dream into a reality and not everyone can do that."

"Sometimes I wonder if Im dreaming."

"You're not."

"I just dont want this to end."

"I know sweetheart, and it wont."

"So, you and Dad are doing good and everything?" I asked.

"Yeah, everything is the same."

"That's good."

"Well, hon, I just wanted to call and say hello. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye Mom."

"I love you."

"I love you too Mom."

I hung up the phone and sighed.

"Mail!" I shouted, smiling.

"You're computer is already turned on," Bobby laughed. I rushed to my computer and signed online.

"You've got mail," I said in a deep voice as I clicked on the mailbox.

"One message?" I asked confused.

Hey Marissa, how've you been? Im doing great. I heard you were going to be in Orlando tomorrow. Im going to go, so I can see you. Call my cell and we can meet up! ~Leah

"Leah wrote me!" I exclaimed.

"Cool," Bobby said smiling.

Leah was my best friend. She had always encouraged me to follow my dreams and never give up, no matter how tough things got.

"We're here!" my manager announced as the bus came to a stop. Sleep, thats exactly what I need.
