Chapter Two

I sat at the table, leaning against it, my head resting on my hand. I was bored out of my mind. I couldnt tear AJ away from Amber and I was pissed. I looked across the table at Nick, who looked equally pissed. My face softened. He really did look hurt.

"You ok?" I asked softly. He looked at me and glared.

"Im fine," he snapped.

"Look Nick, Im trying to be nice, you dont have to be bitter," I told him.

"Whatever," he said and looked back. I followed his gaze and sure enough it was where mine was all night, on Amber and AJ.

"You like Amber?" I asked.

"What business is it of yours?" he snapped, again.

"It's not, I was just wondering," I sighed.

AJ and Amber walked back over to the table and sat down, still laughing about something. AJ stopped when he looked at me.

"What?" I asked.

"You ok?" he asked concerned.

"Just dandy. Im having a ball. Nick, what about you?" I asked sarcastically.

"Mmm, time of my life," he growled.

AJ looked at me and frowned.

"Can I talk to you?" he asked.

"Yeah," I mumbled. AJ got up and I followed his to the dance floor, where he held me in his arms. I sighed and enjoyed the feeling.

"Guess what?" he said, obviously excited about something.

"What?" I asked.

"Amber and I are gonna go out Friday," he told me, a huge, goofy grin plastered on his face. I felt a pang in my stomach.

"What?" I asked.

"Yeah, isnt it great?" he asked.

"Super," I rolled my eyes.

"Im sorry I left you tonight," he said.

"Hey it's cool, Nick and I had fun sulking together at the table. We should do this again," I groaned and continued dancing.

"Huh?" he asked, he obviously wasnt listening to me.

"Nothing. Im gonna go sit down," I sighed and walked off. I sat down at the table and felt like bursting into tears.

"Im gonna go get something to drink. Would you like to join me?" AJ asked, looking at Amber. I glared at her and shifted my eyes to Nick who was glaring at AJ.

"They're gonna go out Friday night," we said at the same time as soon as they left. I smiled weakly.

"You like her?" I asked.

"Yeah, you like AJ?" he mumbled.

"Isnt it obvious?" I asked.

"To everyone but them," he replied.

I sighed and AJ and Amber came back, a glass of wine in each of their hands.

I rolled my eyes as AJ sat next to me and Amber next to Nick. Why dont they just go sit together or something.

"I dont feel well, I think Im going to go home," I said standing up.

"You ok?" AJ asked getting up.

"No," I snapped. I glared at Amber and walked out of the hotel. I dont know how I was getting home, but I'll find a way.

"Hey, you ok?" Nick asked coming out of the hotel.

"Why do you care?" I growled.

"I dont, but I wanted to get away from those two," he replied.

"Thanks," I sighed.

"Sorry... I know I can be a jerk, but I cant be right now. Im not in the mood," he answered.

"Yeah, me either," I sighed.

"You might as well stay," he told me.

"Why? So I can watch those two fall in love or something?" I asked, annoyed, not at Nick but at the situation.

"No, because this thing is over in an hour anyway," he told me.

"Yeah, well..." I grumbled and looked at the street.

"Let's be miserable together," Nick said, smiling.

"Im only agreeing because you're actually being nice and I might as well take advantage of it," I told him.

"Yeah, well, things will be back to normal tomorrow," he told me.

"Ok," I said and walked back into the hotel with him. AJ and Amber were laughing and talking, probably completely oblivious of the fact that Nick and I had left. Or at least Nick.

"Hey, you're back!" AJ said as Nick and I sat. We both glared at him.

"Feel better?" he asked smiling.

"Just peachy," I said sarcastically.

"Good!" he exclaimed. I looked at Nick and rolled my eyes.

"Im really proud of you two I havent heard you two fight in the past two hours," AJ said.

"Maybe that's because you were too busy ignoring us," I told him, smiling fakely.

"Huh?" he asked.

"Hey Micki, wanna dance?" Brian asked coming up to me. I looked up at him confused.

"AJ, can we dance?" Kirsten asked AJ.

"Sure," AJ said getting up. I got up too and followed Brian out onto the dance floor. I put my arms around his neck, his were around my waist and we began to sway to the music.

"Kirsten needed to talk to AJ about you two," Brian told me.

"What?" my head snapped up.

"She wasnt going to tell, only hint to him. I see you and Nicky are getting along," Brian smiled.

"Only because both of our love interests are interested in each other and not us. We're both depressed, might as well be depressed together," I mumbled.

"AJ and Amber?"Brian chuckled.

"They're going out Friday," I mocked AJ, rolling my eyes.

"You got to be kidding me," Brian said, laughing.

"Why are you laughing?" I snapped, irritated.

"Because, she's such a bitch. I cant believe AJ would even want to go out with her," Brian said.

"I know! I mean, he used to complain about that girls attitude," I whined.

"Yeah, I know," Brian said.

"This is so frustrating," I mumbled.

"Micki, can I talk to you?" AJ asked, a blank look on his face.

"I guess," I shrugged and let go of Brian walked off with AJ. We walked outside, by a pool. We sat down at a table and just looked at each other.

"What?" I asked.

"You like Nicky?" he asked confused. I looked inside at Kirsten who smiled and nodded as for me to say yes. I looked back at AJ. I dont know why I did this, but I did, "Yeah."

"Since when? I thought you two hated each other?" he asked, he actually looked a little jealous.

"Oh I dont know, I havent kept a time log or anything," I answered, glancing back at Kirsten.

"I have to go to the restroom. Excuse me," I said and stormed back into the hotel.

"Kirsten," I said walking up to her.

"Bathroom," we both said at the same time.

We walked to the bathroom and I looked at her shocked.

"Ok, it's simple. You and Nick finally realize you two are crazy about each other, so you dont have time anymore for AJ and Amber. They realize how much they want, excuse me, need to be with you two. Everyone gets what they want," she smiled.

"It wouldve been nice if you had consulted me first," I told her, liking the idea.

"Sorry. I didnt think he'd run off to talk to you like that. See, it's already working," she smiled.

"Oh goodness, I dont think Nick is going to go for this," I told her.

"If he wants Amber bad enough, he'll do whatever it takes," she told me.
