"Ready honey?" I asked Nick. It was about damn time we were leaving this stupid zoo.
"Can I ride with Micki?" AJ asked looking at Nick.
"Um, yeah, I guess," Nick said, doing little to hide his excitement.
"Thanks," AJ said. I handed AJ the car keys and I got in the passenger seat. He got in and started my car up.
"Are you and Nick really together?" he asked as he began to drive.
"Yeah, why?" I asked looking at him.
"I just think it's weird that you two are together. I mean you two are always at each other's throats and then all of the sudden, you two are together. It just surprises me," he sighed.
"Well, like Nick said earlier, we talked when you went off with his date," I said smiling.
AJ glanced at me and frowned.
"Are you mad at me?" he asked.
"No, why would I be mad at you?" I lied.
"I dont know... you just seem, distant," he sighed.
"Oh," I said softly and looked out the car window.
"I dont think Amber likes me for who I am," he said suddenly.
"Why?" I asked. Of course she didnt like you for who you are. You're loaded AJ, she's a money grubbing bitch.
"I dont know. I mean, she's been asking to do all kinds of stuff and not offering to pay for any of it. I mean, I have the money, it just gets annoying that she expects me to pay for everything, you know?" he asked.
"I know."
"Like the zoo. I hate the zoo," he sighed.
"You seemed to enjoy it today," I mumbled.
"That's just it. I like Amber, I like her a lot. It doesnt matter where we are, I can have a good time," he told me.
"AJ, you two started dating last night," I said in disbelief.
"Huh? Oh, I know, but I mean if I can have fun at the zoo with her, then I know I can have fun anywhere with her," he defended.
"Right..."
"But, do you think you can talk to Nick and have him talk to Amber, since they're best friends. You know, find out why she really likes me, if she does," he said.
"AJ, this isnt like you," I said.
"I know, but..." he sighed.
"Fine, if it will make you happy. I will talk to him," I said.
"Thanks Mickel," he said. I smiled at the nickname.
"Do you work today?" he asked.
"No, I took the day off because of last night. I thought Id be up late," I answered.
I wasnt talking about being up late talking and dancing with AJ, I meant other things(hee hee).
"Oh, what time did you get up this morning?" he asked.
"7:30," I replied.
"Wow, thats not like you," he said shocked.
"Yeah, well... I was expecting you to call around 10:30, so I wanted to get some things done before you called and came over," I answered.
"Oh."
"But, you didnt call. Thats not like you either," I mumbled.
"Im sorry! It's just me and Amber were talking. She called me about 8:00," he told me.
"And you didnt bite her head off? If that were me I wouldnt be living right now," I commented.
"That's not true Micki," he sighed.
"Liar," I shot back.
"You like arguing dont you?" he asked smiling.
"No, only when Im frustrated about something," I replied.
"What are you frustrated about?" he asked looking at me.
Just then my cell phone rang. Who could that be? I looked at the caller id and saw it was Kirsten's number.
"Hey girl," I said picking up the phone.
"Hey! Where are you?" she asked.
"Coming home from the zoo, you?" I asked fakely.
"The zoo?" she asked confused.
"Dont ask," I told her.
"Ok, well... the coffee shop is really busy and..."
"I'll be there in a little bit," I replied.
"Thanks," she sighed in relief.
"I gotta go to work. Why dont you guys stop by for something to drink," I suggested.
"I guess we could do that, here let me call Amber," he said reaching for my phone.
"You already know her cell phone number by heart?" I asked.
"No, but I know Nick's," he said smiling.
"Oh, I see," I said and looked away.
"Nick! Hey man, Micki's gotta go to work. We're gonna go by there to get something to drink. Cool?" he asked.
"Bye," he said and hung up.
"Is everything cool with Amber?" I asked sarcastically.
"Yeah, why?" he asked confused. I rolled my eyes and looked out the window.
*At the End Of The Day*
"Finally... it's been a long day," Kirsten said wiping down tables.
"I know... you werent kidding when you said it was busy," I sighed, wiping down the bar.
"Look, it's Nick!" Kirsten exclaimed pointing to a figure standing outside the shop. I rushe over and opened the door for him.
"You two work late," Nick said looking down at his watch.
"It's only 7:30," I said.
"Is this how late you'll be working tomorrow?" Nick asked worried.
"No, why?" I asked.
"Because, we got a date, remember?" he asked.
"Oh yeah, unfortunately," I sighed and walked behind the counter and finished wiping it down.
"What time do you get off tomorrow?" Nick asked.
"6:30."
"Are you going to have enough time to get ready for a movie that starts at 8:15?" he asked smiling.
"What did you find out?" I grinned.
"Ok, Amber thinks she likes AJ. She's not sure though," he smiled.
"Thats such good news!" I exclaimed.
"I know. Now we have to conviently run into them tomorrow night," he said smiling.
"What you two need to do, is start a fight between the two," Kirsten said walking by.
"Huh?" I asked.
"It's simple. Find something about Amber that you KNOW pisses AJ off about people. Get her to show it or something, you know? Or you can with the classic, cheating," she smiled.
"Which one would most likely cheat?" I asked.
"Amber," me and Kirsten said at the same time.
"Oh, that makes me feel real comfortable," Nick mumbled.
"Nick, you're gonna help her cheat," I smiled.
"Huh?" he asked.
"You get what you want... and I get what I want," I said smiling.
"I dont think thats fair," he said looking around.
"Nick's its perfect. Me and AJ catch you two doing whatever, hopefully getting it on. We're so upset and everything, we console each other," I said smiling.
"But what about me and Amber, she'll realize she did something wrong and will go to AJ begging for forgiveness.... she wont want anything to do with me," he pointed out.
"Damn, this is going to be harder than I thought," I sighed.
"I know... how about a party. We'll get a little truth or dare going on and some kinky dares..." Kirsten grinned.
"Where's that gonna get us?" I asked confused.
"I dont know.... but it will be fun,"she grinned.
"What's the occasion?" I asked.
"Um... Fourth of July,"she smiled.
"That's logical. Saturday is Fourth of July, we have nothing to do," I said smiling.
"Let's do it," Nick nodded.
"Hey, why'd you come out here anyway?" I asked Nick.
"I needed to talk to you," he shrugged.
"Oh," I nodded.
"Kirsten, you have to be the one giving us all the kinky dares to do with AJ and for Nick, Amber," I told her.
"I know... me and Brian already have everything figured out," she assured me.
"OK..." I said confused.
"This is the weirdest thing Ive ever done for a guy," I sighed.
