Chapter Seven

We got to the charity show, right before it started. I saw Nick talking to a blonde girl next to the stage. I wondered who it was.

“Um, John, I’ll be right back,” I said and walked over to Nick.

“Hey Nick,” I said cheerfully.

“Miranda!” he exclaimed and wrapped his arms around me.

I smiled brightly and looked at the girl, trying to see if I knew her.

“This is Jessica, she’s going to arrange that we go on stage together and host for awhile,” Nick said smiling.

“Really? Thats cool!” I exclaimed smiling up at him.

“Thanks Jessica,” Nick said smiling.

“Thank you,” I smiled too.

“No problem. Why dont you two hit hair and makeup and you’ll be on in 45 minutes,” she ordered us.

“Ok,” we nodded. She pointed to where we were supposed to go and we walked in that direction, hand-in-hand.

“Miranda! Where are you going?” John asked, rushing up to me.

“Hair and makeup, why?” I asked, confused.

“We need to find out when you go on,” he said.

“45 minutes, I just found out,” I said.

“Oh, ok, well,” he said, he looked a little hurt, but I dont know why.

I walked into the hair and makeup tent and I was attacked by powder and combs.

“Why’d you put on makeup this morning?” the lady snapped at me.

“I didnt know they were having hair and makeup, sorry,” I sighed.

“Its ok, you do a good job,” she told me.

“Thanks, I learn a lot,” I smiled.

After everything was done, Nick and I just sat around waiting. We had thirty minutes.

“Let’s go get something to drink,” I suggested.

“Ok,” Nick said pointing to a little concession stand about ten feet away from us. We got two cokes and sat on a bench, sipping them.

“Jeez, it’s bright out here today,” I whined.

“Yeah, I know,” Nick said squinting.

“Hey you two, are you ready?” a lady asked walking up to Nick and I.

*After the Event*

“I am exhausted,” I sighed as Nick and I walked to my car.

“It’s 5:30, do you want to go out to dinner?” Nick asked.

“Sure,” I agreed.

“Ok, let’s go home, shower and everything and I’ll pick you up from your place in a little bit,” he said.

“Ok, sure,” I nodded. John was already sitting in my BMW waiting impatiently.

“Bye,” I whispered to Nick and kissed his lips gently.

“See you,” Nick said and walked off in the direction of his Durango.

“What is your problem?” I asked as I got into the car. I put the top down and began to drive.

“Nothing,” John sighed.

“Yeah, right. You’ve been a dick all day,” I snapped.

“Well, maybe if you concentrated a little more on your work rather than Nick...” he began.

“Excuse me? What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked.

“You know damn well what that means,” he said.

“No, I dont. Today is the first day I’ve worked since I’ve met Nick,” I replied.

“I dont know Miranda, just dont let him come first,” he told me.

“Nothing is coming between what I want, whether that be a modeling career or Nick, got it?” I snapped.

“Yeah,” he shrugged.

I drove, angry until I got to John’s house.

“Im sorry,” I sighed as I put the car in park.

“It’s ok, I understand. See you tomorrow. Bright in early- Cover Girl,” he reminded me. I nodded and waited until he was in his house before I drove off. When I got to my apartment I got into the shower. When I got out, I did my makeup and then blow-dried my hair and left it against my back. I then changed into a pair of Tommy Hilfiger overalls and a tight white Tommy tank top to go underneath. I slipped on my sandals and just as I was about to sit down on the couch, I heard a faint knock at my door. I jumped up, excited about seeing Nick. I swung open the door and my smile dropped quickly.

“What are you doing here?” I asked. Will was standing in front of me.

“I left something here the other day. I wanted to come and get it,” he told me.

“What?” I asked.

“A ring,” he said.

“Who was that ring for?” I questioned opening the door wider for him to come inside.

“You,” he replied.

“I dont understand you Will,” I told him.

“Miranda, I love you. Please take me back. I can give you so much more than that guy,” he said referring to Nick.

“What exactly can you give me?” I asked, annoyed.

“No one knows you better than I do Miranda,” he said.

“Will, you’re full of it,” I said picking up the box and handing it to him.

“Just one night with me baby, and I promise, you’ll never want to leave me,” he said to me, putting an arm around my waist. I took his arm and moved it.

“What dont you get about no?!” I yelled at him.

“Miranda, I love you,” he said kissing my neck.

“Get away from me Will. Leave, now,” I ordered.

“Miranda, why dont you love me anymore?” he sobbed.

“Will, leave,” I sighed.

I heard a knock on my door and I knew for sure that it was Nick, who else would it be? I rushed to the door and swung it open. Nick was standing before me, holding a bouquet of wildflowers.

“I saw them on the side of the road and decided to stop and pick you some,” he said smiling.

“Oh Nick!” I grinned and wrapped my arms around his neck and gave him a kiss.

“What’s he doing here?” Nick asked when we pulled away.

“Picking up something he forgot here the other day, but he is leaving now. Good-bye Will,” I said looking over at him.

Will walked out of the apartment, then turned to me, “You’ll be sorry, Miranda. He wont be able to treat you the way I did.”

“Lucky for me,” I rolled my eyes.

“Ready?” Nick asked smiling.

“Sure am,” I smiled.

“Great, let’s go,” he said.

“Where are we going?” I asked.

“I wasnt sure, do you have any place in mind?” he asked.

“I dont know,” I sighed.

Nick and I ended up going to some restaurant on the beach.

“Do you have anything to do tomorrow?” Nick asked.

“Photo shoot, bright and early,” I smiled.

“After that?” he asked.

“Not that I know of,” I replied.

“How about a day at the beach. The boys are going and told me to invite you,” he said.

“Sure, if I dont have anything else for work,” I replied.

“Good,” he smiled.

*The Next Day*

“AUGGHHH! NICK!” I screamed as he picked me up and began running towards the water.

Nick laughed and just kept running.

“Nick! Please!” I cried holding onto his neck for dear life.

“Whats wrong?” he smiled down at me.

“The water’s cold,” I said.

“COLD?! It’s like 100 degrees outside, the water cant be that cold,” he laughed.

“Nick, please,” I begged.

“What do I get out of it?” he smiled. I leaned up and pressed my lips to his.

“That’s it?” he asked, grinning after we pulled apart.

I smiled and leaned up and pressed my lips to his, again, I ran my tongue over his lips, parting them so my tongue could have access to his mouth.

“Mmmm.” Nick moaned.

“Wanna take me back to shore now?” I asked smiling.

“Yeah, I guess I could do that,” he smiled and walked back to the sand and set me down. I stopped walking and grabbed his hand, pulling him to me.

“I wasnt done,” I said smiling and pressed my lips to his. Nick moved his hands down to my waist and then around my back. My hands found their way up to his face.

“Alright you two!” AJ called. Nick and I pulled apart and smiled at each other.

“Hey Nicky, mind going to get some drinks?” AJ asked after we walked over to AJ and his girlfriend.

“Uh, I guess not,” Nick shrugged and walked off.

“Ok, so we were thinking this weekend,” AJ said as soon as he walked off.

“Oh, for the party?” I asked.

“Yeah, do you think you could plan something ahead of time with him and just lead him back to his house?” AJ asked.

“No problem,” I nodded.

“Ok, now Chelsea cant get any time off of work this week, so would you mind going shopping with me?” AJ asked.

“Thats fine,” I nodded.

“Ok, Im going to write down your number and I will call you,” AJ said.

“Ok,” I nodded. I gave AJ my cell phone and my home phone.

Nick walked back up and handed everyone drinks.

“Thanks,” I said smiling.

“What were you guys talking about?” Nick asked.

“Boys,” I said smiling.

“Boys?” Nick asked. Chelsea and I looked at each other and spotted a few guys a couple yards away. We pointed to them and smiled.

“Hey!” Nick exclaimed. We laughed.

I sat down on the sand and looked out into the ocean. Nick sat down next to me and looked with me.

“Hey, we’ve got to head back, we made plans earlier,” AJ said gathering his stuff.

“Ok,” Nick and I said and just kept looking out into the ocean.

“Bye!” Chelsea and AJ waved to us.

After awhile of sitting around and looking at the ocean, Nick and I decided to pack up and go over to his house.

Just as we were getting into his Durango, my cell phone rang.

“Hello?” I asked clicking it on.

“Hey Miranda, Teen People want to do an interview with you next week, is that good?” John asked.

“Yeah, I’ll mark it in my book,” I told him.

“Ok, bye,” he said and hung up.

He was still mad at me for the dumbest reason, if he expected me to never have a relationship, he was wrong.

I smiled at Nick and we continued. When we got to Nick’s house we just sat around and watched television. I guess you could say it was a lazy day. After a few hours of watching t.v., I decided to go see if I had anything scheduled for tomorrow. I opened my schedule book and began searching. Nothing for tomorrow, or the next day.

Suddenly, my cell phone rang. I groaned and walked over to the phone.

“Hello?” I asked, annoyed.

“Miranda?” someone asked.

“Speaking. Who is this?” I questioned.

“Hi, my name is Jennifer Rodgers and Im calling to offer you a deal,” she said.

“How’d you get my cell phone number?” I inquired, irritated.

“That doesnt matter, what matters is I am going to offer you fifteen thousand dollars to be in our calendar,” she told me.

“Are you kidding?” I asked.

“No, we’d like for you to think it over and I’ll give you a call back tomorrow afternoon and you can let me know what your answer is,” she told me.

“I can tell you my answer right now. No way!” I exclaimed.

“Please, think about. Talk to you tomorrow,” she said and hung up.

“Who was that?” Nick asked.

“You’re never going to believe me,” I sighed.
