Chapter One

~Alli~

"You have one message." My answering machine told me as I pressed the flashing button.

I walked into the other room to change as the machine prepared the message, "Al? This is mom, guess who's in town? Nicky! I talked to Jane and I think you should stop by. Love you."

I ran over to the machine in my bra and jean shorts and replayed the message. 'Nicks in town?' I could hardly contain the emotion that swept over me.

I walked down the hallway to my room and took out my scrapbook. I flipped through it till I found a picture of me and my best friend, Nick Carter.

It was senior year. Nick was going to do some singing thing and we had a party for him when he left. I heard they were doing pretty good but I'm not much for teeny-bopper bands.

I pulled on a New York tank top and grabbed my purse and checked my reflection in the mirror before I took off for Nick's old house. We used to live next to each other, but once we graduated I moved into my own apartment.

I climbed into my Sebring Convertible (graduation present) and headed to Nick's house. The traffic was light and it was really nice out. I rolled down my windows and let my new Dr. Dre c.d. blare. I headed down to Symphony Isles where Nick lived and turned in.

~Howie~

"Here we go, ale ale ale, go go go, ale ale ale, tonights the night, we're gonna celebrate, the cup of life, ale ale ale." I sang at the top of my lungs. I was dancing around Nick's kitchen preparing myself lunch.

Nick had left me here because he had to run over to where Brian was staying. Something about a fight with Leighanne or something (what's new?)

*Ding Dong*

I wasn't sure if I should answer Nick's door or not but being the nosey guy I am I walked up and peeked out the peep hole. There was a gorgeous blond standing outside.

I opened the door, "I must have the wrong house..." the girl said before she turned to leave.

"Wait." She turned around.

"Who are you looking for?"

"Nick...Nick Carter."

"Well then, you've come to the right house."

"Oh..." She blushed.

"He's off running errands. Oh, forgive my manners and the lack thereof, I'm Howie." I extended my hand.

She put hers in mine. "I'm Alli. Allison, but everyone calls me Alli."

"It's very nice to meet you Alli. Do you want to come inside and wait for him?"

She looked unsure but nodded and followed me inside.

"So... you a friend of Nick's or something?" I asked her trying to make conversation.

"Yeah we used to go to school together."

"I think he's mentioned you before." I lied, Nick had never mentioned an Alli or an Allison. But that's how Nick was. I don't know how he could forget such a beautiful girl though...

~Nick~

"I'm home!" I annouced entering my house. A phat convertible was parked outside and I was curious about Howie's visitor.

When I walked into the living room Howie was on the couch laughing his head off. It wasn't until I looked on the loveseat that I saw who was there.

"Al?"

She turned. "Nickster."

She got up and I ran over to her. "Alli! Wow. You look...great. What are you doing here?"

"Well my mom called, I heard you were in town and decided to stop by."

"I'm so glad you did." I lied, kinda. She was much prettier than I remember but, still. 'I hope she doesn't plan on hanging around me the whole time I'm in town.'

We stood around in an akward silence until Howie spoke up, "Well I should probably let you guys be alone to reminsce."

"Do you have to?" Alli asked. I raised my eyebrows.

"We'll have to go out sometime, Nick, see ya." Howie and I did our awesome handshake and he walked out.

"So, let's catch up!" Alli said enthusiastically.

"Yeah, lets." I said equally enthusiastic, I hoped.
