Chapter Thirteen

I looked around the apartment, my heart pounding in my chest.

Just then the phone rang. I jumped to answer it, but Anthony pushed me away and brought the phone to his ear.

“Hello?” he answered.

“AJ? Yeah... Melissa is just fine,” he said, sarcastically.

“AJ! HELP!” I yelled, immediately, James’ hand covered my mouth.

“Bye bye AJ,” Anthony said and hung up the phone.

I felt the hot tears begin to spill down my cheeks.

“What are you crying for?” Anthony shouted at me.

“What did I do?” I cried to him.

“What did you do?! I’ll tell you what you did you little bitch! You intentionally started problems with the gang, you never officially left the gang,” he said smiling.

“Neither did Alana,” I snapped.

“Alana doesnt want to leave the gang,” he told me.

“Anthony, you need to leave, right now,” I told him.

No, I dont think so,” he said smiling.

“Well, then, whatever you are going to do, do it. Get it over with, now,” I yelled.

Just then there was a knock at the door. I looked at Anthony and then rushed to the door, Robert chasing after me. Shawn was sitting in the rocking chair, in a daze, I dont think he comprehended what was going on yet. That or he didnt believe it.

I got to the door first and swung it open. Ricky, Nick, and the rest of his boys were standing at my door.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, shocked.

“I was prepared,” he said, looking in and saw Anthony, James, and Robert.

“Oh thank G-D!” I said wrapping my arms around him. Robert pried my arms from around his neck and threw me back.

“Ant, it’s Ricky and his boys,” Robert called.

“Help me, please,” I sobbed.

“She’s leaving with us,” Ricky told Robert, staring at him in his eyes.

“Like hell she is,” Anthony yelled grabbing my arm. I yelled out in pain.

“Come on Melissa,” Ricky said walking into my apartment. Anthony shoved him, then Nick brought out a gun and pointed it in Anthony’s face. Anthony looked shocked.

“No! Don’t shoot him!” I begged. As much as I hated my brother right now, I didnt want to see him hurt, or especially killed.

“You’re going to let her come with us,” Ricky commanded.

“Like hell I am going to let my sister go with you,” he said, Anthony spat.

“You don’t care about her,” Ricky said.

“No, but she belongs to us,” Anthony said.

“She doesn’t belong to anyone,” he said.

I saw Nick walk past everyone, no one really paying attention, I followed his moves with my eyes.

“The baby,” he mouthed to me. I nodded towards Shawn. Shawn and Nick snuck past everyone and to a room in the back, I didn’t see them after that. They must’ve snuck out a window. I sighed in relief, I knew Shawn would take care of Marianna.

“Get the fuck out of here,” Anthony growled.

“Not without Melissa,” Ricky said, not taking the gun down from Anthony’s face.

“Shoot me Ricky. I dare you,” he said, laughing.

Ricky looked at me, tears falling down my cheeks.

“Come on Melissa,” Ricky said walking over to me, he helped me get up from where Robert had knocked me down.

“I am so sorry,” I sobbed.

“Get your hands off her,” Anthony said pushing Ricky, knocking the gun out of his hand. Anthony grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder, as the rest of the boys “took care of” Ricky’s boys, Anthony headed down the street with me over his shoulder.

“Let me down!” I cried, kicking and punching him.

“Shut up bitch,” he yelled.

“HELP!” I screamed.

“Fucking bitch, shut up before I kill you,” he yelled at me. For once, I listened and stopped screaming. I knew Anthony was being serious and that’s what scared me.

Anthony took me to an old basement where our gang used to meet.

“Anthony, please dont hurt me,” I cried as he threw me onto an old, torn up couch.

“Shut up Melissa,” he yelled at me.

I shut up and looked around. I was on the verge of breaking down. I dont know what I was going to do. The only thing I could think of was, trying to escape. I looked around the basement for potential escape paths.

I saw on old broken window that would be hard to fit through, but possible.

“Im going to back. Im locking you in here, dont you get any bright ideas,” Anthony said. He walked over to a table and picked up handcuffs and laughed as he put them on me. I groaned, now how was I going to escape?

When Anthony left, I heard the door lock. I started to cry.

“HELP!” I screamed. I didn’t know what else to do. I was so scared.

I stood up and walked over to the tiny window and looked up at it. I saw some old crates in a corner. I wriggled my wrists and felt a pain shot up from them. I looked behind me and saw blood trickling down my hands.

“Eww,” I whined and looked back over to the crates.

I walked over and kicked one over until it was right beneath the window. Somehow, I crawled up the crate to see if I would be able to reach the window. Well, I could reach it, just crawling out of it seemed impossible. I sighed and felt a tear run down my face. My wrists hurt and I was weak.

I had to do this though, for Marianna. I couldnt believe everything that was happening. I just wanted AJ to come to me and hold me and tell me everything would be ok. I tried to get up to the window, but with my lack of use of my hands, it wasnt working out. I heard someone coming. I jumped off the crate and pushed it against a different wall and ran to the couch and jumped on it, just in time to see Anthony, walking into the basement.

“What the hell were you doing?” he asked.

“Nothing,” I lied.

“I saw you jump on that couch, what the fuck were you doing?” he asked.

“Nothing, I swear,” I said.

“Get up,” he ordered.

I stood up and waited for him to do whatever he was going to do. He looked around and then looked at my wrists.

“Trying to get out, huh?” he chuckled.

“No, they were just hurting me,” I lied.

“Well, deal with it, pumpkin, they aint coming off,” he told me.

“Where’d you go?” I asked.

“Dont worry about it bitch,” he yelled.

“Anthony, Im sorry. Look, I have a plan, to get rid of AJ and Ricky and his boys,” I said, trying anything to get to let me go.

“What?” he asked.

“I have an idea,” I said.

“Melissa, Im not dumb,” he rolled his eyes.

“No, really. I hate them as much as you do. Well, not AJ, but I’ll do anything to see my daughter and take care of her,” I said, looking into his brown eyes.

“What’s the plan?” he asked, raising his eyebrows.

“It’s easy, I go back down to Florida, where AJ is, seduce him, then kill him. That gets rid of AJ. I convince Ricky and his boys to come to Florida, no weapons, nothing. Just to come and be with me, you conveniently show up, and blow those fuckers away, what do you say?” I asked. I know it wasnt much of a plan, but it came from the top of my head.

“I dont trust you,” he told me.

“If anything happens, outside of plan, you kill me,” I told him.

“I still dont trust you Melissa,” he told me. I slumped onto the couch and sighed.

“I just want to see my daughter,” I sobbed.

“Shut up Melissa. You’re going to call AJ and tell him the only way you and Marianna live is if he comes up here now. I’ll fuck him up here,” he said.

I took a deep breath, “Fine.”
