Keep In Touch

The more I talked or chatted with people on the internet I realized that many disabled people have no one close to them, no one Keep In Touch.  I began trying to find someone in the area to contact some daily. Then I started to hear from people who knew someone that didn’t have a computer, and no one close to check on them.

The 1st thing I tried to do was to try and find someone to give me a computer or repair one they may have. I’ve had one computer shop give me some parts and discount others. Software is another big expense. I have talked to on Internet Provider about getting an ISP at a discounted rate, no answer yet. For someone with no outside contacts or limited contacts this has made a difference.  Using the Internet is cheaper than long distance calling, and it allows real time communication. This effort started trying to help a Lupus patient, but I’ve learned many more disabled people are in much the same situation. Not only have I helped Lupus patients; there are several with cancer, diabetes, one with MS, and one with leukemia.

For someone to keep in touch with friends and relatives makes a big difference in the outlook of these people. Those that need it can have someone to Keep In Touch with them daily. I have had some success getting people to check on these patients.

Seemingly I have bitten off more than I can handle. I am trying to figure out how to set this up to handle everyone that contacts me. I live on a limited income myself, so I can only do so much. When my health allows me I try to do the work on the computers.  I have tried to find someone in the area to help work on some of them, no luck yet.  Many are not in this area, so that makes it a little more difficult.
