Chapter One

* Flashback *

“Alexander James McLean!”

AJ groaned, “That’s my mom.”

“You promised, AJ!” His best friend Andrea whimpered.

“Andi…” He whined.

“AJ…” She mimicked.

“Fine, but I swear if you tell anyone I’m going to kill you.”

“AJ!!!” Came the sound of his mother’s voice once more.

“We have to hurry,” He told her,

“I’m ready,” She smiled and closed her eyes and puckered her lips.

AJ couldn’t help laugh, “What?” She asked her eyes still closed.

“Nothing.” He closed his eyes and pressed his lips to hers. Andrea didn’t know how to react so she just waited for AJ’s next move, he opened his mouth and his tongue slipped into hers.

She followed his lead and began tasting his mouth and playing with his tongue.

“ALEX!!!”

AJ pulled away. “See it wasn’t as hard as you thought was it,”

Andrea shrugged as AJ climbed down from their tree house, “Hey, Andi?”

“Yeah?”

“The window at eleven, promise?”

“I promise,” She smiled.

At 13, Andrea Rogers was the only girl, to her knowledge in high school who’d never kissed a boy. She just started her freshman year and she was going to turn 14 in a couple of weeks and wanted her first kiss.

So, she called upon her best friend and next door neighbor, AJ, who she knew had lots of experience in kissing, being as he was 15 and a sophomore.

* Later *

Andrea glanced at her clock, 10:58. She climbed out of bed and took her blanket to the window bench and waited. AJ appeared at his window moments later.

“Hey.”

“Hi.” She shivered as the cold air rushed into the room.

“So, I just wanted to know what you thought.”

Andrea blushed in the darkness, “Well, it’s not as great as everyone makes it out to be,”

“Kids today.”

“Shut up.”

* The Present *

“What are you so excited about?” 19-year-old, Andrea Rogers’ best friend, Miranda asked.

“Who said I was excited?” Andrea asked flustered before her closet.

“That’s the twentieth shirt you’ve tried on in like the last ten minutes and you’re glowing.”

Andrea laughed, “Do you know who this is?” Andrea picked up a picture of a teeny-bopper magazine lying on her floor.

“Give me a break, we’re not twelve anymore.”

“No, I’m serious. Do you recognize any of them?”

“Sure, the dark-haired one looks like that guy in the picture next to your bed.”

Andrea nodded, her eyes sparkling.

“So, you cut out a picture of a guy from a boy-band?” She asked not following her.

“That’s AJ, we grew up together and he’s coming home for a few weeks.”

“And?”

“I haven’t seen him in, wow, 2 years?”

“So, he was just a friend?”

“Yeah… Why?”

“He’ s cute, you never had a thing for him?!”

Andrea blushed recalling her first two years of high school in which she worshiped AJ. Then he left to become a star and she never had a chance to tell him.

“No, never.”

“Right.”

Andrea rolled her eyes, she threw on a green halter top and her tight khaki shorts. “How’s this?”

“Sexy and casual… perfect.”

“Great.”

She and Miranda walked downstairs just as the doorbell rang. Andrea perfected her straight blonde hair and smiled before answering the door.

“Who are you?” Andrea asked.

The tall blonde laughed, “Are you Andrea?”

“I asked who you were first…” She said timidly.

He chuckled once more, “Nick, I’m a friend of AJ’s.”

“Oh, sorry… Yeah, I’m Andi,” She said, embarrassed.

“And I’m Miranda,” She smiled and put her hand out for Nick.

“Hi, nice to meet you both.” Nick smiled.

Andrea looked past him expecting to see AJ, but noone was there.

“He’s at home.” Nick said seeming to read her mind.

“Oh… right…” Andrea said quietly.

“He’s kind of busy, so he sent me over here to chill out, which just occurred to me was really rude, but…”

Andrea felt a tinge of hurt but ushered Nick in, “Nonsense, come on in.”

Miranda sensed chemistry between the two and decided to take it upon herself to play matchmaker.

“I just remembered,” She said picking up her keys, “I promised my mother I would take my cousin to Disney World.”

“What?” Andrea asked confused.

“I just remembered.”

Andrea looked at her curiously, “See ya later Andi, nice meeting you Nick.” She rushed out of the house and gave herself mental props.

“So, how long are you guys going to be in town?” Andi asked Nick sitting down on the couch.

He followed her and sat down on the love seat. “A month, well, maybe two.”

“That’s great.”

“Yeah, I’m excited to be home and relaxing.”

“I can only imagine.”

“I’m sorry you’re disappointed AJ didn’t come see you.”

“Who said that?”

“It’s kind of obvious.”

“It’s just that after so long I thought he’d be excited to me.”

“He was,” Nick lied. AJ had told him that Andrea was a little overweight and plain. Nick was apprehensive but when he saw here, he was glad AJ sent him over. She was nowhere near overweight, she had curves in all the right places and a flat tummy. He noticed the cute belly piercing and had an urge to touch her tan stomach, but resisted the urge.

“I’m sure he was.” She looked where his eyes were directed, “Like it?” She said toying with the piercing.

He blushed, “I wasn’t—“

“It’s okay, if I didn’t want anyone to see it I wouldn’t have done it,”

She smiled and pulled his hand to the ring, “Watch,” She took his finger and made the ball spin.

“Cool.” He began to feel uncomfortable that close to her.

She grinned. “It’s so hot in Florida this time of year, you guys should vacation in Canada or something.”

He smiled, “I know, summer here is ridiculous.”

“Wanna go for a swim?” She asked him.

He didn’t know how to answer, on one hand he was excited to see her even less clothed, but on the other hand he feared it. “Sure.” He mumbled.

“I’ll be right back, I’m going to change.” She said, he agreed and trotted off to AJ’s to get a suit.
