Portugal
A nearly third world country taking up the southwestern corner of the Iberian peninsula. The thing that got me about this country is the abundance of poverty. Almost all of the buildings in the country are run-down and ancient (even in downtown Lisbon) and everyone lets their dogs run loose like strays. It was a farily nice place to visit, but Lisbon just seemed like a big ghetto. The place I really liked in Portugal was Sintra. It's a little mountain town towards the Atlantic from Lisbon and has the remains of a Moorish castle and a castle built for the royalty. It's one of the best places I went in Europe.
