The Ten Steps To Ritual.

1. Advance Preparation

Gather the ritual tools and various ingredients required for the particular spell. The tools, herbs, colours, numbers, incense, and so forth should be carefully selected for their significance, resonating energy powers, symbolism, and potence for the ritual or spell to be performed. Each spell should be cautiously adhered to, and carried though to the end with conviction.

2. Physical Preparation

Prepare the ritual area or altar and lay out your tools, ingredients and symbols.

3. Self-Preparation

Take a pre-ritual purification bath surrounded by candles and incense, and meditate to focus your energy on the spell to be performed. Remember to be discrete, perform your spells in absolute privacy and avoid cultivating an air of mystery, as any negative energy from family and friends may interfere with the spell's potency.

4. Asperge the Sacred Area

Sprinkle salt water lightly over the area to be used for the ceremony to cleanse it of any negativity.

5. Cast Circle

To enhance positivity, cast a protective barrier, or Circle, before each spell. Visualise a circle of white light surrounding yourself and the sacred area, with energy running clockwise, Tell yourself it is an impenetrable barrier that no harm can cross.

6. State your purpose

It is essential to define the purpose of your work. Remember that you get what you ask for, so be sure to specify every detail, and to fundamentally understand the ethics and origins of the rituals you plan to perform.

7.Raising Power

Chanting, singing, ringing a bell, drumming and yogic breathing are excellent ways to summon the Elemental powers of Earth, Air, Fire and Water. It is up to the spellcaster to decide on the most effective method.

8. Channel the Power

Visualise the aim of your spell as being achieved, If performing a spell which involves another person use either a photographic image, something belonging to the person for whom the spell is being cast, (their name written on paper will do if neither of the above are available to you); or use an image of, or write on the appropriately coloured paper, the desired result if performing a spell, say a world peace or safe travel, etc.

9. Earth the Excess Energy

This is important as some forms of witchcraft can be very draining on the spellcaster, Once you feel that you have accumulated sufficient power to achieve the result, lie face down and place your palms on the ground so the energy can literally run back into the earth.

10. Open the Circle

After thanking the universe for empowering the ritual Circle, it is time for the Circle to be opened. Blow or snuff out the ceremonial candle and say: As I do will, and for the good of all, so mote it be.

For this simple little ritual you only need a meal, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can do this alone or with the people you live with.

Before you eat, place your hands over your food (they don't have to touch it) and wish for peace and understanding between neighbours. Spend the first minute of so, while chewing to food, meditation on your desired outcome, thereby placing your energy into the food.

This is a basic ritual, similar to saying 'grace', that can be shared with loved ones. It's a good way to start the New Year, especially after the tumultuous events of the past twelve months.

Magickal Poetry

You will need white candles, writing paper and an appropriately coloured pen. A poem is a Magickal creation, and it needn't be a prizewinner, The connection between poetry and witchcraft, dates back to olden times, when read out loud, poetry can be a powerful tool for spellcasting.

Ritual poetry doesn't have to rhyme, but many find that rhyming verse is preferable when reading out loud, (its also easier to memorise.) The writing and reciting of poetry can have a healing effect on the spiritual self as well as the physical body. It can help calm and centre, attract energy and create the setting for ritual work. If you don't feel very creative, you can make use of well-known published poems or song lyrics rather than writing your own, provided they don't create any negative feelings for anyone involved. When you have a poem you are happy with, find a place where you won't be disturbed and light some white candles, read the poem out loud or to yourself, while doing so visualise your Magickal intention.

To heal a friendship:

For this ritual you'll need to get items to represent you and your friend, and a pink candle or a piece of rose quartz.

Representative items can be photos, some hair, your names written on separate pieces of paper, anything you can think of that helps you believe the items are truly representative. The items representing you could take the form of a letter to your friend.

Over a seven day period you'll be moving these items closer together, so find a place where they won't be disturbed, IF you live alone, you could place them at either end of a mantelpiece or table, but if this isn't possible, find somewhere in your bedroom, if you need to hide your items from day to day, simply mark the place where you last left them.

On the first day, take either the pink candle or the piece of rose quartz to meditate upon your friendship, Either lighting the candle and gazing into the flame, or holding the quartz in your hand and closing your eyes, visualise how you want the friendship to be, not how it is at the moment. Think about laughing and walking, and most of all talking, with your friend, When you have finished, extinguish the candle with your fingers (don't blow the magick away) and move the items closer together, Do this everyday for seven days, If you have chosen to represent yourself with a letter, you could read the letter out loud before you meditate.

Amethyst de-stress spell.

Try this spell with a piece of amethyst when you are emotionally upset, ending a relationship, stressed out or you are in any unstable condition.

Go to a quiet place outdoors where you can be alone with your thoughts, Hold the amethyst in your left hand, Gather all of your emotional turmoil and pile it into an area in your chest. Visualise this ball of trouble travelling from your chest, up into your arm and into the palm of your hand. Force into the amethyst all the hurt, anger and sadness, when you feel you have released all of the bad into the stone and it is bursting with negativity, throw it with all of your might, Shout, scream and yell as you do this, Take a few deep breaths and visualise, for the moment, that you are now free from this pain, Calm your thoughts, relax and meditate, thank the stone and the earth for their help. Turn your back and leave, never to look back.

Safe Driving Ritual:

Let's face it, driving is an extremely dangerous occupation, most people drive around completely ignorant of the fact that the tonne of metal they're sitting in is an extremely dangerous weapon. Alertness and visibility are your best defences when driving, so ensure that you only drive when in a peak emotional frame of mind (never upset or angry).

Perform this ritual to ensure that your vehicle is visible to other motorists.

Wash your vehicle with water which has been energised by three quartz crystals, allow it to dry in bright sunshine, Once this has been done, polish it with a cloth that as been infused with the energy of a calcite crystal-wrap the cloth around the crystal for 24hours before performing the ritual. In your ashtray, place a potpourri made up of the following:

1 teaspoon vervain

1 tablespoon sea salt

1 teaspoon lavender petals

3 drops basil oil

Now call on the assistance of the great Goddess to allow you to drive safely through life. Visualise your car enveloped by a white light and repeat the following:

I am a safe and careful driver, who only attracts the same.

Allow me to journey through life in a manner, which will harm none.

So mote it be.
