OZZY COMMENTS ON DIMEBAG'S DEATH
"Dimebag was a dear friend
of mine. I’m absolutely beside myself with grief. I can’t for the life of
me understand why someone would do this.
Pantera toured with me many
many times. I’ll always remember the signed guitar that he gave me at my 50th
birthday party.
My heart goes out to Dime’s
family, his fans and the other innocent victims who were killed in this
senseless tragedy. It’s just terribly sad."
- Ozzy
Friends memories of Dimebag: I
was lucky enough to see Pantera backstage 4 times. Each time, Darrell remembered
me pretty good. He
was a really nice person, he'd always offer to share a beer, drink, or a monster
sized joint. Not
to mention, he was also my main reason for picking up an ax. I,
among a ton of fans will always remember you as a friend, a musical genius, and
a great human being. -Brandon (check out his MySpace Blog about Dimebag by Clicking Here)
i
dont even know what to do right now. i have always hailed pantera as the
greatest band ever and dime as the greatest guitarist, flame away if you want,
but i always felt that he was. i remember the day i got my CFH tattoo and how
much pride i have always had in wearing it with pride. I will always carry it
with pride. this
is the saddest day in the history for hardcore music fans, whether you liked
them or not, you cant deny their influence and the path they paved for the music
we have all sworn to hold in the highest esteem. i weep for the Abbot family. I
weep for all of the families that have lost a loved one tonight. I
weep for metal. I weep for a void in my heart that was a special spot for a
special soul. I never met him, nor anybody in the band, but they were and will
always be a part of me There
are so many memories of Dime and Pantera. Seeing Pantera the first time with my
two best friends. All of us were so fucking excited to see our favorite band for
the first time. It was a dream come true. There we stood, mesmerised by the band
and especially Dime's guitar work. His
ad-libbing with his guitar to give every performance a unique sound just by
tweaking his guitar differently. I remember bonding with good friends and making
new friends just because of the music that Dime created. Pantera was more than a
band. Dime was more than a guitarist. A lot more. I
feel like i have lost a family member. I couldnt sleep last night. I finally got
to sleep at about 4 this morning. My gf said i kept tossing and turning and
saying Dime's name in my sleep I
woke up this morning and couldnt help but feel that I, and the rest of the metal
community, have lost one of the greatest and most wonderful souls in the world.
There will never be another Dimebag, but atleast we have the music he created
forever. His
influence will be as vast as Jimi Hendrix's has been. -Vish Friends PanterA, CFH or Dimebag tattoos: My PanterA tattoo of course, again Dimebag Pictures: Links to band with tributes to Dimebag: Damageplan Zakk Wylde PanterA Shadows Fall
