This was our first stop on the Brit rail. York is really really old like two thousand years. The Romans were there first but the Vikings named it Jorvik which of course became York (I can't remember who came first). It is one of the few cities left with medieval walls which are really cool.
This is a picture of the youth hostel we stayed at. It isn't a very good picture because it is too dark, I even tried to lighten it but it didn't really do much, it was much prettier than this picture shows.
Here is a gate in the old city walls, you can see the arrow slits and everything, the statues on top are not medieval tho I think they are 19th century.
This is the ruins of a norman church, it was in the museums park.
This is a little street called the Shambles. In the middle ages it was the street that had all the butcher shops on it, which is why its called the Shambles (apparently that means butcher or something). Of course now it has a bunch of tourist shops on it. Isn't it cute tho?
This is a peacock that lives in the park.
