The acting bug bit Mary-Margaret Humes (a former Miss Florida and third runner-up to Miss USA) back in the late 70's when fellow Floridian Burt Reynolds encouraged her to make the move to Hollywood. Throwing caution to the wind, she made the move West to study and pursue a career in film and television. Currently, she can be seen on two hit television series. Her most recent success is on the new critically acclaimed "Dawson's Creek" which debuted on the Warner Brother Television Network in January of this year. Playing the mother of the lead character Dawson (James Van Der Beck) has raised a few eyebrows with the critics. "I'm not what you might call the stereotypical TV mom," muses Humes, "I'm more like Donna Reed on ecstasy." Indeed her story lines evolve around a steamy relationship with her husband of 20 years, played by John Wesley Shipp, as well as a secret love affair with one of her co-workers which is uncovered by her unsuspecting son Dawson. In just five short weeks "Dawson's Creek" became the highest rated show in Warner Brothers Television history. The show's creator and executive producer is Kevin Williamson, who also wrote the big screen blockbusters "Scream" and "Scream II'. The second series that co-stars the actress is the original "Eerie, Indiana". Debuting on NBC in 1992, the series is now one of the top rated shows on the Fox Saturday morning kids line-up running in syndication. Humes is married to soundman Raul Bruce and together they share homes in Los Angeles and Wilmington, North Carolina where "Dawson's Creek" is filmed.
