Reserves

Saturday, January 10th was a day to remember for youth team player Allan Norman as he scored a hat-trick in the reserves' 4-1 win at Thrapston in the UCL Reserve Knock Out Cup. Dominic Johnson, another member of our youth set-up, notched the other goal after good work by the fit again Matt Deevey and Thrapston scored a late consolation effort from the penalty spot.
The following weekend an injury time winner by Grant Mawby gave us a 2-1 UCL Reserve Division One victory over Stotfold at the Rockingham Triangle after James Miller's 55th minute opening goal had been cancelled out with a quarter of an hour left to play.
On Saturday, January 22nd we eased to a 4-1 league win at bottom of the table Higham thanks to goals from Simon Rielly, Ian Wood, Alan Norman and Paul Doherty - the latter finding the net for the first time at reserve level following his step up from the youth team.
Last Saturday a below strength side took on Raunds Town Reserves in the league and we went a goal down in the first half when keeper Chris McAleer was unable to claim a corner and the ball was bundled in. We again proved susceptible to a high ball into the box after the break when another cross was converted at the near post but we then got back into the game when youthe team player Paul Doherty headed in. At that stage a share of the spoils looked possible but a third Raunds goal seven minutes from time killed off our challenge.
Next Saturday we are at home to St. Neots Reserves (kick off 3.00 pm) and the following week we make the daunting trip to league newcomers King's Lynn Reserves for a Knock Out Cup tie. Although Lynn play in a division below us they probably have the best record of any senior club in the country, having won all 22 of their UCL Reserve Division Two fixtures with a goal difference of 103 and just 11 against. On Saturday, February 26th we are in action again at the Rockingham Triangle when Yaxley are our visitors.
We currently stand in fifteenth position in the UCL Reserve Division One table with a record of :-Played 21, Won 7, Drawn 3, Lost 11, Goals For 38, Goals Against 48, Points 24.
