Quest Solution: Release Minsc From His Cell Where to get: The game nudges you by panning to his (and Jaheira's) cages as soon as Imoen has released you. Optional: This quest is not required to advance in the game. Summary: Minsc was captured trying to rescue you from Irenicus. He's been locked in a cage, forced to watch you being tortured. With the Shadow Thief attack, Imoen was able to get free and has freed you, so now you need to free your other friends. How to do: Walk over to Minsc's cage and start talking to him. After awhile, he will become angry that you can't seem to help him, and go berzerk. While berzerk, he will be strong enough to bend the cage bars, and he'll free himself (he won't stay berzerk once he sees that he can get free). Be aware that if you do not release Minsc from his cell, he will not be available for the rest of the game, as once you leave Irenicus' dungeon, you cannot return to it. There is no penalty, however, for waiting until the last possible moment while you are still in the dungeon before releasing him if that's what you want to do. If you don't want Minsc in your party right away, you can still release him and tell him to find his own way out. He will be available to add to your party later, waiting in the Copper Coronet inn in the Slums. Minsc is a Chaotic Good human Ranger (with a special berzerk ability, but unlike the true berzerker or barbarian, you cannot control him while he is in berzerk mode).
