Frequently Asked Questions
The questions are listed at the top so you can easily see if yours is here. If not, you can email me if it is a game question. I am not any sort of tech whiz, though, so if your problem is in getting the game to play at all, it will be a waste of your time to email me. You can try telp's tavern message board (not affiliated in any way with this site) if you have technical or any other questions.
Answers to the FAQs below can be seen by clicking on the question and then highlighting the answer after it. I have done it this way so that people who do not want a spoiler will not see one (for instance, to another of the questions).
I've heard there is a patch for this game. How do I get it?
Answer: There is one official patch which is for version 1.0 of the game. This version (1.0) is the one that has no background music during the game introduction. If your game already has intro music, then you don't need this patch. However, if you do need it, the TELP website is currently hosting it, along with their own fan-created patch to fix some minor bugs the official patch didn't handle. You don't need to use this unofficial patch to make the game work, however. The TELP website is at http://telp.org (the link opens a new window). Follow their directions for downloading when you get there.
I need the patch but can't download it. Is there any workaround to get the game to play without it?
Answer: Yes, there is. The biggest problem the patch fixes is allowing you to complete a required quest no matter how you approach it. However, if you approach the quest in a particular way, you can complete it even without the patch. Please highlight the following to see how to do this workaround: For the "Clear Out Anskram Keep" quest in Sturmford, you need to enter through the back door of the keep - this is the door on the top floor of the keep, not the main door at ground level. Once inside, clear out the entire keep without exiting the building. You will have completed the quest when the circular platform bursts through the floor with the guard fighting a demon on it. As soon as that last demon is dead, the keep has been cleared out. (To "destroy the portals", just attack them until they go dark). If you've already tried the keep and gone back outside, or if you entered through the front door, you'll have to start the game again from a save before you went inside.
Where are the Town Portals located?
Answer: Below is a table with the locations given by region. To see the location of any particular Town Portal, just highlight the section for the region you're interested in (regions without a Town Portal will say "no Town Portal").

How do I mix a potion in this game?
Answer: You don't. Potion-mixing was one of the features that hadn't been completed when the game was rushed out the door just before 3DO went bankrupt. So even though the game manual says you can mix a potion, you can't.
How do I get to Arslegard?
Answer: The way all the characters in the game tell you to. If you still don't get it, highlight the following: You have to die. Really. Obviously you can't go there prematurely, which is why that guy keeps telling you "It's not your time yet," every time you go there by accident. ;-) If you don't die naturally when you need to go to Arlesgard, you'll need to commit suicide. I've heard the room that floods in Verhoffin's Ruins is a good place for that.
