Where: From a Healer near the Desert Terror in Thronheim.

Optional: This quest is not required to advance in the game.

Summary: The healer tells you she was never able to complete her training, but has heard of the Black Orb of Knowledge which will answer any question put to it, and which the mad wizard Robisson has. She asks the party to get it for her.

How to do: To complete this quest, you need to get to Yorwick. No public transportation goes there; you'll need to access it through the underground tunnel in the countryside of Thronheim: Go down the path out of the city until you come to the first true left (not counting the place where the path splits). You should see a lake there (as well as some vampire-types). On the other side of the lake is what appears to be a mine entrance. This is the entrance to the "connecting tunnel." Pass through it to come out in the countryside of Yorwick.

The countryside of Yorwick is a pretty dangerous place peopled with apparitions and high-level evil wizards. The apparitions will attack as soon as you arrive. Follow the coast until you come to the first building - this is the Wizard's Lab. You enter it through the portal in front of it.

You will be in a large rectangular room filled with Eyes. Kill all the eyes, then go over to the portal on the opposite side. Go through it and you will see five colored pedestals with buttons on them. Such portals are in each of five sections of the building. You are currently on the "white" level and can activate the portal to get back here by clicking on the "white" button on any level. Note that there is no indication that touching a button does anything; you can't even see "through" the portal to the new place until you actually step through it.

Robisson himself has the orb in his possession. He can be found on the level which looks like a round platform in the middle of space, surrounded by colored lines. He is standing in the middle of the platform. You will have to fight several Winged mutant types to get to him, but once you do, ask him for the orb. He will offer to sell it to you for 2000gp. Pay him. (you might try killing him to get it for free - it might work; I didn't try it).

Once you have the orb, return to the healer for your reward.
