QUEST SOLUTION: | FIND THE GREEN MAN
Promotion: This quest is not required to advance in the game, but is required for promotion to Druid.
Summary: In order for you to be promoted to Druid, you must first prove you are capable. Menja Ketildotir does not judge this for herself; instead she directs the party to find the Green Man - it is he who will provide the promotion once he is satisfied the promotion is earned.
How to do: First the party must find the Green Man. Menja tells you to find Fland de Allasan A'Lanth a'ryshar, a man who hangs around Frosgard City. In fact, he hangs around just outside of it - he is the man you come to just before entering Frosgard City after passing through the Frosgard countryside to get there. Respond to the dialogue about the Green Man with him and he will give you directions on how to track him: You must keep to the left as you leave Frosgard City, but not go "through a tunnel." In fact, you will see not one, but two, tunnels and must choose one or the other to get to the Green Man. When you get to this point, take the one which looks like an archway, and bypass the one which resembles a cave. If this is confusing, just look at the map and get yourself to the big tree.
On the way to the Green Man, you will have to fight some wolves, some Yeti, and some Gazump-types. If you are not at a very high level, these will be quite difficult, but will be easier if you break them up. When you get close, cast Fleet Foot, then turn and run back the way you came for awhile. Not all the monsters will follow you, so you can then turn around and fight them one or two at a time, allowing yourself to rest in between. The Green Man himself is near the big tree - he's green, and has butterflies swarming around his head. Once you get past the monsters and are able to talk to him, the remainder of the quest is quite simple and risk-free.
He asks you to do three things for him: 1) repair the maypole in Frosgard; 2) get at least 6 people in Frosgard to vow to remember him, and 3) get the Jarl of Frosgard to carve a promise to remember him on a runstone and set the runestone by the maypole.
Go back to Frosgard after you've talked to the Green Man and talk to the Jarl. He will agree to the runestone and tell you who to see to fix the maypole: a man named Soxolf Tryygvassen. Soxolf can be found not too far away from the front of the Jarl's residence. Ask him to fix the maypole - he will need 500gp for the supplies, which you'll have to give him (this is why the "to fulfill" amount is negative on the quest page). He will also agree to remember the Green Man. Walk around town and talk to five more people about the Green Man (not everyone has the appropriate dialogue - you'll have to search them out). When you've talked to the sixth person about it, you should hear a chime to let you know that part of the quest is fulfilled. Once all three requirements have been met, return to the Green Man. He will promote you and give you a special amulet to remember him by.
