Where: From Thorfinn in Thronheim.

Promotion: This quest is not required to advance in the game, but is required for promotion to Mercenary.

Summary: In order to prove your worth to become a Mercenary, you must get a job which pays you to use your fighting abilities.

How to do: You've been told that Atli Sigmundssen - whom you can find just outside the gathering in Guberland - is planning on moving from Guberland to Thronheim, but that he needs someone to guard his ship for several hours. Offer to guard it for pay, and he'll accept the offer. When the agreed upon time comes, go to guard the ship at the dock in Guberland. Just relieve the guard that's been on duty until then.

At nearly the end of your shift, when you can already see Sigmundssen returning in the distance, some bandits will attack you (go ahead and use the rest screen to make time pass more quickly until nearly the end of the shift). Defeat them. Sigmundssen will pay you for the job. Return to Thorfinn in Thronheim for your promotion.
