QUEST SOLUTION:
OPEN THE MOUNTAIN PASS

Where: From Kira the Cold, the Jarla of Thronheim.

Required: This quest is required to advance in the game.

Summary: The Mountain Pass between Thronheim and Thjorgard has been closed for a long time because of many monsters which inhabit it. Kira asks you to clear this pass in preparation for the coming war, making this a condition of her joining the Alliance.

How to do: The Pass may be approached from outside the city of Thronheim (or alternatively from Thjorgard). From Thronheim, take the path into the wilderness, making the first right you come to. There will be many basilisks of various types in an open area there. Wipe them out, and continue, again making the first right (on the map, the correct path looks like one which bends back on itself). You may encounter more basilisks on your way to the Pass. Please note that if you have any difficulty whatsoever with the basilisks, you are not yet at a high enough level to clear the Pass.

When you get to the Pass, you will get a dialogue box which tells you it will take you three days to get there. Click "yes" and the Pass will load (it is an outside "dungeon"). Simply follow it through to the end, killing all the monsters you meet along the way (heavy duty imps, winged abberation types, and wolf types). It is not necessary to completely clean out every corner of the pass (there are many dead ends). Simply killing everything on the main path is sufficient (you can see which way is the main path by checking the map occasionally). When you get to another dialogue box which tells you it will take you three days to get to Thjorgard (if you entered in Thronheim), click "yes" and the quest will be completed.

Return to Kira the Cold in Thronheim for your reward.
