Introduction

The Blue dude with the atitude is back in his debut on the Dreamcast. Sonic is 15 years old and is the leader of the team, famous for his unique speed. Though short in temper and patience, deep down he's really a nice guy. As always in this game he is fighting against the evil, Dr. Robotnik. His board goals are different every time, so be prepared for some fast paced action.

Moves

Spin Dash - Press "B"

Homing Attack - Press "A" twice

Light Speed Dash   (Light Speed Shoes required) - Hold down "B" until Sonic says "ready". Let go to fly into rings.

Light Speed Attack   (Ancient Light required) - Same as Light Speed Dash

Chaos 0:

The first thing you do when the game starts is play chaos 0, your first boss.  After a movie sequence, you'll fight chaos.  He's pretty easy, the only thing to master to beat him is the homing attack.  After 3 hits he should be dead.  Also as always there is a certain pattern he attacks with.

Emerald Coast stage 1:

After beating chaos, another movie sequence will run.  After the movie you will be able to control sonic.  It will appear that you will be by a pool.  To start the first board run towards the beach.  This board is pretty straitforward.  Look around for special items.  Here are some of the different items you might find in the board:
    1. After the wale run part, after hitting the marker before going up the hill and continuing look around the side of the cliff you'll see some super rings.  On a floating platform opposite the second catapult on the mountain is an extra life.
    2. On the part by the waterfall when the music changes walk on the wall and  go for the running shoes, stay on the wall and aim for that cave you see.  Follow it and eventually get an extra life.
    3. By the part with the jump pad before going on it, go on to the beach, there will be some rings and an extra life.
As all the boards you will go to this one has 3 missions, you can play through this board 3 times to collect sonic emblems. the missions are, save tails, destroy the capsule with 50 rings, and destroy the capsule within 2 minutes.

Egg Hornet:

After a movie with tails leave the pool area, exit the doors to the right opposite the elevators.  You are now in the main part of Station Square adventure field.  After Exiting the hotel look to the left, you should see a big white building with stairs.  You also see a ball of light floating in the air, this is a hint orb, use it if you need any hints.  Go up the stairs and enter the door way to the train station.  Continue moving forward and go up the stairs.  Go in the train.  Now you are in the Mystic Ruins adventure field.  Jump off the train station platform.  At the bottom turn right, stop, turn right again look for a stairway past the pilars.  Go up the stairway.  A movie starts and you are introduced to your good old friend Dr. Robotnik.  After the movie you must fight him.  He is pretty easy, he attacks in an easier pattern easier than chaos 0's.  First run away from the missiles he shoots at you then when he comes down do a homing attack on him.  After 3 hits he should be dead.

Stage 2: Windy Valley

After another movie, change the camera view to the left so the camera is facing sonic's back. You will see a stairway. Go up it and at the top you'll see a green stone on a pedistal. Pick it up and carry it all the way down to the bottom of the mountain. Walk towards the lake with the waterfall. To get to this follow a wooden path walking away from the mountain. When you get to the lake DO NOT go off the ledge to the lake. Instead before you get to the lake you'll see a cave to the right of the cliff at the top of the cliff. Enter the cave and you'll see a pit with a strong wind in it. To the right of this pit is a pedistal. Put the stone on the pedistal. The pit will unlock and you can jump into the pit to enter stage 2.

This level is in the sky. It has 3 parts. It is also very straightforward.

Here are some secrets:

   1. At the Beginning of the level there should be a fork, an upper ledge, Take the upper ledge. You'll see some platforms with propellors. Home jump at them and follow the path they make and after some home jumps, you'll home into a magnetic shield.

2.(This is only available if your have the light speed shoes)In the third part when you get to a rocket, don't go on the rocket, instead look to the left of this rocket you'll see a trail of rings. Do a light speed dash towards the rings and you'll get to a platform with some powerups.

Stage 3: Casinopolis

Now that you have finished Windy Valley, you have your first Chaos emerald. But one isn't enough for Sonic. Head back towards the Train, and hop in one of the cars to make your way to Station Square. Go out through the main entrance of the train station, and down the stairs. Turn left and continue to the area of Station Square with the eat-in joint. You should see a pothole in the ground. Drop inside to and jump up the ledge you should see. Walk down the hall and into the shining light, to get the Light Speed Shoes. Power up with a Spin Dash, and when Sonic says "Ready!", step on the button infront of you. A trail of rings will appear. Walk up to the rings, and release the button. Sonic will shout "Go!" as he races up the rings. Now, exit through the back of the store, and continue out to were the Train Station is. Go into the hotel, and make a right. Go strait towards the Casino. Power up your Light Speed Dash again, and hit the button. Once again, walk into the rings, and Sonic will glide up with ease, hitting the button, and opening the door.

The way to beat Casinopolis is by getting 450 rings in the bank. Here are some tips:

1. It is easier to get rings in the Knights Pinball (Purple colored) then Sonic Pinball (Green colored).

2. If you get over 100 rings, keep them so that you dont fall into the sewer.

3. If you have under 100 and loose all your balls, you fall into the sewer. This is a good time to get some rings. Just make sure you dont get hit!

Stage 4: Ice Cap

After you exit Casinopolis, there will be a short movie with Eggman stealing the emerald you just found. You wake up and it is day. Walk straight towards the hotel, keeping an eye out for an alley to your right. When you see it, walk into it, and the Ice Key should be there. Pick it up, and run up the stairs, into the train station, and onto a train. Back at the Mystic Ruins, there should be a short scene of the side of a cliff breaking open. When you walk off the train platform (assuming you don't take the stairs), it is to your left. Jump across the rocks, run down the path a short way, and jump into the winds. Now brought up into the air a bit, just run forwards until you see an ice wall. Place the key near the appropriate spot, and when the door opens, run through. Follow the path until you get to a ladder. The stage begins while you are climbing up the ladder.

Ice cap is a normal stage, with a couple of twists. Here are some pointers:

1. Dont take the rocket across the cliff, instead, run down the slope and you should see the first of the 1,2,3,4,5 platforms. Use these to get to the next part of the stage.

2. Make sure you are aligned with the next icicle before you jump.

3. On the 1,2,3,4,5 platforms in the big icicle room, wait a little bit before you go running. Then run across.

4. When snow boarding, hit "A" when you are on the ramps. This will cause Sonic to do a trick, and increase you speed.

Boss: Chaos 4

After you have beaten Ice Cap, make your way back towards the central area of the Mystic Ruins. Then, run towards the green area, by the waterfall. If you hit a certain radius, a quick movie will start. It seems Knuckles wants your emerald. So he attacks you. Well....Sonic is gonna fight back.

Knuckles attacks in three shifts. Before you hit him, he will throw punches at you. Just homing attack into him. After you hit him once, he will begin using his Spin Dash against you, just run until he stops, and homing attack him. After two hits, he uses his power glide. Just run around until he stops, and homing attack into him.

At this point, a short movie is shown of Sonic and Knuckles running into each other, and Sonic loosing the emerald. Eggman shows up and feeds the two emeralds to Chaos 2, who then transforms into Chaos 4.

The Chaos 4 battle is in the lake, so make sure you stand on lily pads, because after a while of standing on water, you sink too deep and loose your rings. Chaos attacks in several ways. He destroys the lilys from under you, and does a jumping attack to destroy the lilys all around him. If you get to close, he will throw a punch at you. He also does a fin wagging thing, sending some energy at you, which all you have to do is jump over. Finally, he turns his body into a couple of balls, and they go bouncing after you. To beat him, just wait until he surfaces, and hit him with a homing attack. About 5 times, and he is gone.

Sub-Stage: Sky Chase Part 1

With Chaos 4 defeat, Eggman once again talks about Chaos' true power briefly, and then unveils the Egg Carrier, a huge flying battleship. A tractor beam gets him inside, and when it begins to fly away, Tail opts to fly after him using Sonic's plane, the Tornado. Knuckles stays back, saying he has stuff to do. Run up to Tail's workshop. Another movie, of the platform turning into a landing strip. Sonic hops on and the stage begins.

How the Tornado works:

Flight Control - Control stick

Bullets - Tap A

Missiles - Home in while holding down A, and let go to fire.

Hints to beat the stage:

1. There are pods that fire out missiles at you. First fire missiles at the incoming missiles, then take out the launchers.

2. If you find it to hard to keep locking on, just rapidly press A to send out a barrage of bullets infront of the Tornado.

Stage 5: Twinkle Park

You finish your attack on the Egg Carrier, but it has a defense you did not know about. A giant laser gun infront of the ship shoots off the wing of the Tornado, causing you to fall. When you wake up, Tails is gone, and you are in Station Square. Proceed into the hotel (you will be in the pool area where the entrance to Emerald Coast was), and go through the double doors across from you toward the hotel area. Here, you will meet Amy Rose, who proceed to annoy you (this will happen alot, believe me), and follow you. Goto the entrance to Twinkle Park in the are outside the hotel and the train station (you have to go through the hotel, as the train station is closed). You can't miss it, it is a elevator tube with a moniter infront of it. When you get there, Amy will point out Zero, and Sonic will crouch in defense. But Amy wants to go in Twinkle Park. Follow her.

Here are some tips:

1. On the bumper cars, first take out the enemys in them. Also, the more rings you have, the faster you go, and the faster you go, the easier it is to defeat enemies. Get the picture?

2. As always, watch your step when up high.

3. The Merry-go-Round has lots of item boxes, but be careful of the spikey balls.

4. When on the red roof of Pleasure Castle, hit the switches to form rings. A light speed dash is the safest way to get around the roof. (There are two switches, one after the other).

Stage 6: Speed Highway

You come out of Twinkle Park in the exit area. Go through the door that doesnt have a sign above it. A movie will play, showing you that a card was dropped. When you are free to move, go get it, it is on the "islet" in the middle of the road. Go to the gate in that area (it is next to the entrance of Twinkle Park), and stand under the moniter holding the card. The gate will open. Go into the elevator to start the stage.

Here are the hints:

1. When coming on that wall where you run against it, run "up". There are speed boots and a short cut.

2. When on the "Going Down" Part of the stage (it is obvious which part it is, so dont email us asking), towards the end, stage to the left. There is a magnetic shield right before this part ends.

3. Speed Highway at Dawn is an awesome place to explore. Be careful of the speeding cars, and look around.
