The Hurricanes Have Won The NYSL Championship
The Hurricanes lost in their final playoff match against Ecuador. However a flaw was found it Ecuador's
win. They had forgotten to include two players on their game sheet. There was another problem with these players
aswell, however the Hurricanes appealed it, and won. Now making them the NYSA, NYSL 2001 Champions. This is
the letter that confirmed that the hurricanes had won...

Good morning,
I have been informed officially by the N.Y.S.L. that the Hillcrest Hurricanes Under-14 team,
coached by Rick Ross and Derek Hannon, have been officially declared the 2001 N.Y.S.L. Cup
Champions.
As per N.Y.S.A.'s procedure, I picked up the trophy last night at the N.Y.S.A. office (it is large and
quite heavy!). We are going to change the face plate on the trophy to personalize it for the team
(add the team's name, player's names, coach's names) as we have done for our previous N.Y.S.L.
championship team.
I will be "presenting" the trophy to the Under-14 team at the Albert Campbell Tournament
September 22/23. They will be given photo opportunities with the trophy and then the trophy will be
placed in the Hillcrest trophy case at Cummer Arena for all to see.
The Hurricanes Under-14 team is also featured on the front page of the September Sporting Scene
news paper, available in all arenas through out the G.T.A.
Congratulations to the coaches and players for an exceptional season.
Regards,
Randy
