The true heirs to Alexander
In the terrible wars that followed the death of Alexander the armies of Seleuceus carved out an eastern empire that was to last till the ascendancy of the Romans. They drew from a vast and colourful recruiting area and had the use of a large and diverse troop mix. As a modeller it was this that attracted me to them. it is also the thing that makes them so difficult to play. the gamer is spoilt for choice. This was the last army I completed and I begun it determined to follow a policy of having every figure different and not just by colour. it has not been easy. I am satisfied with the results and hope you will agree that they are a stunning lot to look at!!

THE CIC & COMPANIONS
The two major core components of this army are the phalanx and the cavalry. In the later period the cavalry have become armoured leviathans. This is the period I have chosen to model.
THE PHALANX
The phalanx are supported by the Thureophorai and Thorakitai
The cavalry are led by a minor functionary of the empire.
THE SUB-GENERAL
THE SUB-GENERAL & THE BOYS
The army is blessed with various classes of light infantry . Here are a selection of the types I have modelled
Cretan archers Hill tribesmen
Asiatic slingers
Apart from the usual troop types the army also has an interesting range of special types here are just a few:-
Four horsed scythed chariot
The elephants and escorts
Bedouins Asiatic horse archers Thracian mercenaries
Napoleon is reported to have said that an army marches on it's stomach. The Seleucids are no different .
