When the players at club Alpha in Barcelona rekindled my interest in ancient gaming, I decided to create armies from a specific period and area. The choice for me was simple.  I just had to model the Hellenistic and Punic wars period. Memories of paintings of elephants in the Alps and images of Alexander had been with me since childhood. The course was set. I dug out my old Minifig collection of unpainted Republican Roman and Carthaginian figures and jumped in at the deep end. These sorry old figures were very substandard when compared to the tiny jewels produced by today's figure makers. As they stood they just weren't satisfactory. I armed myself with a Dremel and a wide variety of tools and attacked the figures. I removed weapons , changed heads and carved them to achieve motion.  I liked the result. The finished painted articles looked good and almost all the figures were different. That's when the fatal decision was made. I would build armies in which EVERY figure was different. There are days when I regret that decision but when I take a look at the figures on the shelves the satisfaction I feel is truly awesome..

To date I have produced a generic Successor army (can be morphed to cover most variants) , a late Seleucid army, Pergamene, Republican Roman, Late Carthaginian, Numidian and I am at present working on a Bactrian force. lets hope there will be sufficient years left to finish the damn thing...heheheheh. If asked to choose my favourite , I suppose the Numidian is the most satisfactory to game with. In modelling terms the winner by far is the  Seleucid . Every figure is totally different. The pride of the force being the cataphracts which are albeit in my humble opinion, quite stunning. However I will let you be the judge by visiting the gallery.
